No point in picking Idaho since they'll be FCS or gone soon enough

Given the results of the last two games would Oregon State even play us? I would also wonder if WSU would want to take the risk of a FCS loss early in the season. Although good sense and Cougar football don't often go together (see also very close wins over EWU & MSU). Sure would be great for the fans.

Idaho....though they are going to be an FCS rival again and it will be as lopsided as it was before we stopped playing them every year. They are a traditional rival anyway.
Lopsided is right. Idaho leads the series 55-27-2. Which is better than Wyoming who leads the series with Montana 13-0. I suspect we could improve both moving forward. Border rivalries are great.
Which is why I said "before we stopped playing them" cause at the time Idaho decided to end the fight for the little brown stien we were beating the sh1t out of them on a pretty consistent basis. Idaho could not take the demoralization of losing to the Griz year in and year out. Especially after "moving up". But, as Ursa Major pointed out, they will be back in the Big Sky before to much longer.

1. Idaho - because we are rivals, have been, always will be. Look in the hall of champions for the Little Brown Stein.

2. Boise - Long-time rivals as well

3. Nevada-Reno - Also an old conference foe

4. whoever else...

I agree with those three...Whoever else would be in this order:

Wyoming
Colorado State
Washington State
Utah State
Air Force
Utah
BYU

Your reason for Idaho no longer playing us is in your dreams. The real reason is they joined the WAC, which had a policy of not allowing members to play at lower division venues. Idaho would welcome Montana to play in Moscow any time we want to go there for their going rate. This just in; we can do a lot better elsewhere, so we don't. It's us that refuses to play Idaho under WAC rules.

Wasn't looking for an argument. Have it your way... :jack:

We already have one, Idaho.
In another thread, it was stated that we will play Wyoming in Laramie in 2013; has that been announced or confirmed?
Anyone else hear this rumor? If so I have to give major kudos to UM for scheduling a winnable FBS game for the first time in awhile

Curious about this too - website I saw showed Wyo playing TX State, Northern Colorado Idaho and Nebraska for OOC games in 2013.

BTW, as FBS history Griz have played Idaho 84 times (first game in 1903) Washington State 34 times (first game in 1903), Utah State 34 times (first game in 1904), Boise State 25 times (first game in 1971 after they dropped junior from their name), Washington 17 times (first game in 1920), Oregon State 16 times (first game in 1925), Colorado State 16 times (first game in 1946), and Wyoming 13 times (first game in 1951). This is how I would rank our "rivalry" against FBS opponents.

For most of its history, Idaho had an intense interstate rivalry with the University of Montana in Missoula, approximately 200 miles (320 km) east. The teams have met for football 84 times (second only to the 91 games with Washington State). Idaho and Montana first played in 1903, and played every year from 1914-95 (except during the war years of 1918 and 1943–44, when neither school had a team). Montana was also a member of the Pacific Coast Conference until 1950, and a fellow charter member of the Big Sky in 1963. Idaho leads the overall series 55-27-2 (.667), but Montana has dominated the rivalry since 1991.[33]

The teams have played just five times since Idaho moved back up to Division I-A in 1996, with the I-AA Montana Grizzlies winning the last four, most recently in 2003. Since the departure of Idaho, Boise State, and Nevada from the Big Sky to Division I-A in the 1990s, the Montana Grizzlies have been the dominant I-AA (now FCS) football program in the West.

The winner of the Idaho-Montana game claims the Little Brown Stein trophy.

Move aside Growler/wolfy, Alphy, PlayaRep, TokyoRose, there's a new sheriff in town.

Jake-Dude, you should be calling plays for da U!

I like Brock's list with schools we could at least compete more closely with rather than the Vols, Hawkeyes and Ducks. However I enjoyed those games as well.

Maybe something like this for fun..

2015 Oregon State
2016 Washington
2017 Wazzu
2018 Oregon
2019 Wyoming
2020 Colorado State
* 2021 Oregon State

Those would be some great OOC games.
