Fall Camp Updates

Ok I have to admit it; I did something I promised I would never do. With 96’s quote and all the talk about C.A.T. hype, I could not believe it, so I thought I would visit BM and see for myself. I learned my lesson.
And, it’s even worse than I thought, as the C.A.T.S. are going to the super bowl this year:

Choate's quote below is very interesting to me. That is very high praise and makes me think this team is going to be something special. Either that or Choate is over hyping how solid they are, which I doubt.

"They are playing pro football right now. There is no school, there’s no jobs. That’s what these guys are and I think they’ve handled it like that.”

Perfect. Not only the backups are better than starters, in the hunt for a Championship, but, they are now also playing pro level football.

I suppose it's fair enough to question Dennis Erickson and his ability to evaluate defenses. I have heard way to much hype from over to many times to believe them at face value. I like most here will believe it when I see it.
I re-watched cat/griz the other day and I am even more confident that we should have won that game and will almost certainly win this year. The cat defense was actually out classed most of that game. I cannot believe with the losses they had on that side of the ball that they will be better this year.

Unfortunately, the cats D is loaded with talent this season. I have no idea what to expect out of Ioane as a coordinator this time around, other than he'll bring a lot of Washington with him. If he'll be any good, I have no idea. But he's got lots of talent to work with, painful as it is to acknowledge.

Okay, where's the talent and where was the talent last year?

You're an expert, so I appreciate you just asking to humor me. Basically their entire secondary, which was fairly talented, is back with added depth. Linebacker play was a weakness last year, they add TA to that group this year and get Kanow back. They return Sterk, all conference player, and add a few Huskies transfers, a couple of which will start, that are total studs. They have talent defensively. They'll run the ball well. Their QB situation is weak, obviously and hopefully bites them in the ass in big games. I'm hoping our much tougher schedule has us better prepared than their extremely weak one by season's end.

Thx. I know almost nothing about this year's Cat team. The only Cat player I can name is Anderson.

Do you think you could have just skipped your first sentence and provided the rest. Or is that too much to expect from you?

The D stuffed the O in short yardage situations at the end of practice yesterday.

Double edged sword there. Encouraging for the young d-line. But of course want the revamped o-line to start producing results in practice. Hopefully iron sharpens iron for our O and D fronts!

Go Griz!

This is a surprise?

Agree....I think this is more or a bad sign than a good sign of things to come, as in another year of crappy oline.

Seriously, until you see them line up against South Dakota there is no way to tell if this is good or bad.

pr didn't like your first sentence but I thought it hit home, however the last sentence is a bit of a stretch. "much tougher schedule" vs "extermely weak" I'm not arguing that um has a tougher schedule but both teams are playing an all DI schedule with 1 FBS game. the difference really is um has 4 2018 playoff teams and MSU has 2. Point being that it is the fact that um plays MSU which make your schedule much tougher, while MSU has a patsy by playing um which makes our schedule extremely weak

Are you saying that I'm known as an expert on the 2019 Cat football? If so, I didn't realize that.

It is “you’re an expert on everything”. YOUR MSU education is showing.

Is this pre-season National Champs for the fifth or sixth year in a row, I lost count?

my understanding is that they are pre-season semi-finalists this year, but the trajectory is good.

Nope, not true. Of course, we know you aren't even an expert on the Cats.
