Fall Camp discussion pt. 2 - Defense / Special Teams

I will add that Cole Grossman was the starter at Buck with the ones in the Spring Game. In this scheme him weighing 210 isn’t a big deal. Don’t sleep on him being the guy. Severin Campbell was a nightmare before he got hurt his senior year and couldn’t have weighed more than 220.

Dustin Dlouhy didn’t weigh any more than that either. It’s not size that makes the difference, it’s having the requisite skills for rushing the passer.

Not saying this going to happen at all or should since he he already grey shirted but imagine if you can just play him four games and he gains an extra year of eligibility. He’s going to be a stud and wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in the mix after watching him in the Spring.

Vinyard, Grossman and Hill are very much in the mix for major reps and key roles on this defense.

Lorenzo Brown has put on a bunch of weight and is now a DT, not a DE.

Mamula I believe is still injured

Credit the coaches for recognizing he’s a good athlete & football player. If I recall correctly, he came in as a star’d receiver & TE prospect. You find spots for kids who can play because they’ll produce. Have no doubt that he’ll be coached up & if he sees the field this season as a rush end, it’s because he’s earned the reps.

Sure wish this defense had a Tonga type tackle. A big run stopper who eats blocks.

Hate to follow those guys in the bathroom...

Really people?? This absolute GEM of a post just gets summarily ignored??

I got you, box.

I really like Rice ability in a few a few areas a rush end.....his ability to slip blocks, speed to the point of attack, his length and solid tackler....not much not to like...i believe he could really help in certain situations of a game.....

Mamula is fully healthy but a total unknown. The first day of practice will be his first actual practice as a Griz. He is much bigger than the 216 the currrent roster shows.

The 2 Hawaiian’s have arrived to the Griz Nation! Aloha All....
They maybe freshmen, but they can bring the Polynesian Power, welcome them in your Ohana, “family”!

Welcome to them and to you and your families! Griz Nation is an awesome family and really looks out for its own. I and many others were very excited about the Hawaiian boys coming in. They look like very talented kids who can be great Griz. Goooo Griz!

No mention of Roland...
Might be walking on?

He was never formally introduced by the University neither were the 2 Hawaiian safties Hee and Fitiusi-Fung but they are all on campus and should be in fall camp.

I’m betting Taber gets this all updated tomorrow when he’s in the office (if he’s around) now that everyone is here and camp will start. Usually they update the roster with new additions with their numbers. We usually get updated height and weights too.

Griz D line to prove itself:
