So BW....not looking for WSU dropdown RB to crack the lineup?

So why exactly would you assume he would?

I don't assume he will...was just curious on BW take. Dropdowns are typically given scholarship money if they are very likely to play not to be 4th string. If they are 4th string the scholarship money should have been used elsewhere (like kids on team who after a good spring still got nothing, yes I know is a fact.....)
I believe BW said that this was his stab at the 2-deep after spring ball. In fact it looks like its quoted from a previous post. So this is all before Lee came on board.

That was my post spring ball depth I put up. Before he was on the team. Tough to say how he will add in, I assume he'll have some role for sure.

The big question is can this offense work in the FCS? I don't really know because the run game has been so non-existence. Without out it the defensive coordinators can turn it vanilla just like last year. I expect Horner to be a a big part of the offense but if the offensive line can't open holes and/or give the QB time so routes can open up we will see a lot of late in the season 2016 in 2017. Another question I have is will Stitt learn to make on the field adjustments as games progress? Another concern was the late season meltdown. We lose to unc on the last drive of the game and come out against a mediocre cat team and get punched right in the face....at home for a playoff spot! That just can't happen. So run game and Calhoun's health...offensive line production....heart when the chips are down(motivation late).

Stitt made some changes in the offense from year one to two, moving the larger slot receiver in enough (at times) to make him almost look & function like a tight end, including having them block on run/pass option plays. My recollection is that Nyguen had about 850 yds rushing in year one, not sure what the rest of the team put up, but that seemed to satisfy his requirements given blocking seemed to be the most important function for the back. The BSC coaches were going to be better against both sides of the ball in year two - because they get paid to do the job as well.

The line struggled with the scheme, and who knows - maybe that gets better, or he rethinks the running game strategy & scheme a bit. Going with what he brought from mines and continuing to assume things will get worked out will only get them beat.

This is a totally unfair assessment and it rules out the things Nguyen did better last year (pass protection & pass catching) plus it assumes a healthy Calhoun through the whole season. So again, unfair, however if you flipped the touches the two had last season based on their per carry and per game averages, here's what it would have done:

Actual 2016: Nguyen 679 yards, 1 TD / Calhoun 555 yards, 9 TDs
Flipped 2016: Nguyen 354 yards, 1 TD / Calhoun 1073 yards, 17 TDs.

If we have a healthy Calhoun and can get a good mix with Favors and Lee then this running game might come around this year, and that would help just about everything on this team, scoring, TOP, passing game, and hopefully relieve some pressure from the defense too.

WR play must take a giant leap forward. With unknowns vying for the qb job, it is imperative these guys step up.

As for qb, I think if Stitt believes Phillips is the guy, he should announce it loud and early and give him all 1st string reps. QB's in this system need reps and confidence. Rotating guys at QB is a recipe for disaster imo.
This may be one of the first times I agree with you. Stitt should name his guy at the very latest, week one into fall camp and go with him. Give the other two equal opportunity separate from that to grow but with this system, #1 needs to be in place now dialing it in with the rest of the 1st Team O. As for 2009, that was also a different beast and can't be compared to a Stitt team. Our QB didn't need to be an on field genius to run the O. We we're a balanced-power run team then. That's like comparing apples to carrots.

First time I've ever heard that... Just assumed everyone took the gospel of 5700 as fact.

A not-so-wise man on eGriz once told me something bad about assuming but I blew it off as rubbish. Just keep right on assuming.
