Irregardless isn't a word, regardless if that is what you believe. You do have control over your own spelling.

I'm not big on criticizing others for spelling and grammar on message boards, but if you're going to do it, you might want to clean up your own first. :bad:

Touche' Looks like I derailed a thread.....weeeeeeeeee!

...then there are those who never learned the "i" before "e" except after "c" rule (as in "receive') which is continually abused on egriz...and also fail to understand the distinction between "less" and "fewer"...less for bulk stuff like oil and coffee that may not come in units, fewer for items that are identified by number - fewer seats, fewer beers (assuming they're in cans or bottles, etc, etc, blah,blah...) :hijack:

Back on point, the U would need to recieve morer dollar to go up, not fewer.

I don't want to be one of "those" guys. But to be correct it should read, "The U would need to recieve morer dollar to go up, not lesser".

Just sayin.

mcg "To me the move up question boils down to this: who has more fun, Griz fans or the fans of the typical WAC or MWC team? The answer is easy, it's Griz fans (ever been to a CSU game? Yikes, it's bad). Would you trade this season's playoff games for (let's say) the New Mexico bowl? I wouldn't.

Just my opinion though, feel free to disagree."

This!

Why would the "fun" change just because the opponent did?

And can you not admit that playoffs ARE coming to the FBS? :? :?

Can you admit that any FBS playoffs would never be large enough for a school like UM to ever have a chance to particpate?

Oh ye, of little faith. Positive thinking....use the energy. And yes I actually can. The stars have to align just right but IF it played out like this..

1) UM is invited to and accepts an invitation into the WAC/SunBelt
2) After a few successful years, we are invited to the MWC/ConfUSA when it expands from 24 to 32 teams, and has 4 Divisions of 8 teams each.
3) We win the Rocky Mountain Division (which includes Idaho, Wyoming, Utah State, Colorado State, etc)
4) We then win our semi-final game against a team from the SE Division (ie App State, Troy, FIU, etc)
5) We then win the MWC/ConfUSA championship
6) At that point, its has been determined that their champion gets a bid into the 16 team FBS playoff system
7) We get the 16th seed.
8) We upset SEC power LSU
9) We beat the 8 seed Notre Dame....to make the Final Four
10) Then down goes Big 12 power Oklahoma
11) We then upset Michigan for the FBS National Championship
12) We then lose half our team as they jump to the NFL early.
13) Rebuilding time, and back to the bottom.

It was a good run, I enjoyed out FBS National Championship. BTW this is my dream so dont spoil it.

However to answer the original question, yes at some point we could make the FBS playoffs when they expand to 16.

Nope. I foresee a 2nd-level FBS playoff system for those schools NOT in BCS conferences...I've said it before: if BCS develops a playoff (and they ARE), and FCS, D-II and D-III have playoffs, does it make ANY sense that the 45-50 schools NOT in any of these levels wouldn't have some sort of playoff system? And given the current schools in the MWC/C-USA/WAC/Sunbelt, I see NO reason why playoffs with THOSE 45-50 schools wouldn't include the Griz at some point in the very near future.

I could see a BCS playoff system and having a mid-major automatic bid from the combined MWC and CUSA. That would be great. Win the Mountain West, play the CUSA champ for a bid into the BCS playoffs. I could see a mid-major conference that large getting a bid.

Well, if that's the way it's ultimately set up and 32 schools have to compete for ONE playoff spot then I have to agree with PR. :o :o

Who knows? Maybe we could wind up once again in a conference with Boise State. They just announced
they're staying in the MWC through the 2012-13 seasons...(maybe longer?!?!) Hope so.

Anything is possible, but the only playoff scenario that seems to have any traction is the "plus one" proposal of a two round, four team playoff.

If some sort of mid-major CBS playoff system emerged it would be worthy of consideration. I've never heard or read of such a proposal and don't see it happening. Why would the NCAA replace a system that costs it nothing (the bowl system) with something that would cost money?
