MBBALL Fabulous Day of College Basketball!

This has been a fantastic day for us basketball junkies … with several conference tournaments going as well as being the final season games in several conferences.

Not that many outright upsets, but an endless string of close ones … several that went into overtime. And who can overlook the Cal – Notre Dame game that went into four overtimes?

One of the more exciting games was watching Valparaiso (#11 seed) throw a scare into #2 seed Bradley.

As expected the Big Sky game was rather Ho-hum.

Best part is : There are still a lot of games to be played this evening. (That and “spring forward” to mess up our clocks will make tomorrow morning an adventure.)

Just had our first #1 seed go down: SE Missouri State lost to SIU Edwardsville in the Ohio Valley final. Not a huge upset since SIUE was the #2 seed. Don't see SEMO qualifying for an NIT spot: Their ranking are pitiful (NET 184 last time I checked).

FWIW: NAU leads by 4 just into into the 2nd half.

Not as exciting as yesterday, but not bad ... including some overtime games. Another #1 seed got knocked off: Chattanooga in the SoCon. Right now, it looks like the SoCon championship game will feature the #5 and #6 seeds (Furman and Wofford), unless VMI stages a big 2nd half comeback (down 15).

The Mocs might have good enough KNIT numbers (114 on NET, 97 on RPI, etc.) to get an NIT invite.

Addendum: overlooked another important #1 seed defeat: Navy beat 1-seed Bucknell in the Patriot. They'll be playing for the auto-bid. (Bucknell ain't going anywhere, likely).
