Eye Opening

My thoughts: the Griz talent is on par or close to that of NDSU or CCU, the coaching is NOT. So long as UM has this coaching staff, the Griz will be no better than they were in 2013, and perhaps not as good. This coaching staff also will adversely affect coaching for the near future. IMO, the Griz are essentially f**cked for the next five-ten years.
Spot on...

Our talent was as good or better than CC but it sure does not match up top to bottom to NDSU this year. We shall see next year.....
Go Griz!
NDSU has a once in a lifetime class graduating this year. We've got guys that have been recruited by three different coaching staffs

You said it all in one sentence BL. Slice it however you want - three different coaches does not equate to success. Actually amazing how well the Griz did this year if you think about it. We are on pace for a half dozen coaches by 2020 at the rate we are going. Unbelievable really.

All the more reason to question why Pflugard and Day were fired for apparently no reason. This administration has severely damaged UM in more ways than one.

It is not a blessing that we are not playing the Bison today. It has been said all year we haven't played anyone. Today was our chance. Our team and coaches need to see what a top tier program looks like and be on the field with one.
Actually, it's been said we haven't beaten anyone. We played EWU, NAU, CC; we just didn't beat them.

They don't whiff any tackles, that's for sure, your friend, yogi

Multiple Bison whiffed on the swing pass to no. 15.

Another missed tackle on the pitch to the back going to the right.
Yogi's point is that NDSU doesn't miss many tackles...repclown. However you prefer the "chainsaw" move as a recipe for an NFL linebacker... "if he doesn't get hurt",(like we all know he'll get hurt) caveat tossed in at the end. Now your "friends" with the CCU fan base. I think your hilarious...actually. I laugh my a$$ of at you every day.  MR. Legend in his Own Mind !! :egriz:

Criticizing the NDSU defense is akin to Jay Carney defending Obamacare. P!ssing in the wind. NDSU plays defense at an entirely different level than UM or anyone else in FCS. No one makes every single tackle, but you rarely see NDSU defenders out of position. It was UM's biggest problem and a key reason for poor tackling.

It might be argued that UM's talent coming in might have been as good as NDSU's; very hard to judge. But it is clear that NDSU's talent on the field is far superior; they develop talent.

I think the Griz are gonna be fine. Its a long ladder to climb but its the coaching. Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is insanity. This run it up the gut over and over again isn't gonna work. (Cal Poly game... got BOOOed.) Mic and crew are gonna have to sit down and think about shit this winter. The slant bubble screen seemed effective a lot more than not but, is that all they got?!?!

Who was criticizing NDSU's defense? Certainly not me. However, NDSU's defense, like every defense in the country, misses tackles. Just pointed that out to this poster. Also, I disagree on your position comment too. NDSU defenders were also out of position at various times. That's part of the reason they missed tackles.

Let's not jump the shark. Before we can compare ourselves to NDSU and discuss that gap we should focus in the Big Sky first. Right now EWU is eating our lunch and until that changes we are foolish to worry about the chipper. The Eagles have won the BSC 3 of last 4 yrs. and made semis 3 of last 4 yrs. and have likely the last two frosh of yr in FCS and have a perriniel Payton award finalist in Adams. First things first and that is stemming EWU's dominance.

That can be a little scary. Maybe that's where the novel idea of having the whole defense drop 10 yards of the LOS against a punt formation.

I think that the reason CC did'nt play as well against NDSU as they did against the griz is that NDSU would not let them get into a flow. Their coaches knew exactly what kind of a game plan to put in and be successful. They were very disciplined on defense but especially on offense. Everyone of their linemen went to a spot and blocked very effective against CC. They also are quicker than the griz linemen. It will be interesting next year against Wyo. I think we can play with them for the most part talent wise but their new coach will make adjustments if necessary during the game and leave the griz coaches scratching their heads and win the game.
