Exceeding Expectations

Hard for me to understand how someone could take so much from one early season game.

It was the lack luster performance of the team up to the NAU game. It wasn't just one early season game. The NAU game just lit the candle that exploded.

Exploding candles? What kind of effed up birthday celebrations did you have as a kid?

;)

Last years team is why I’m still not overly confident or hyped. I was convinced last years team was going deep. This year I’m just happily surprised

Ditto. One game at a time. Take nothing for granted. One. Bite. At. A. Time. That includes the Crow many of us have promised to eat.

Good try, but that doesn't explain it. The OOC games were essentially preseason games to sort out some important issues (like new QB). The Utah Tech game was "lackluster"? The OOC schedule was done effectiy vely with wins. The overreactions from fans losing grip on the fact that it's a long season was just wrong. It was one loss and in September. We were racked with flu and covid and playing at 7000'. We still have one loss. Neither of our NC teams were undefeated. Learn.

Good points Kem, as usual. The importance of finding the right QB and designing the Offense around him can not be overstated.
Add in that the D has had to be revamped and when we lost Robbie we lost a player that knew how to General the D. It has taken a while for this D to gel, but now that they are they are a force to be reckoned with to say the least.

Disingenuous at best. NOBODY knew we were racked with covid and flu when they sleepwalked through the NAU game. We found that all out much later. In HINDSIGHT it is obviously the anomaly, but at the time, it looked like a sinking ship.

If Griz win out, BH should win BSC coach of the year.

Really no question about it. A stellar job turning around what appeared to be a listing ship. I ate plenty of crow and will gladly agree to eat more. This team has more chemistry than last years. They are gritty and their QB has some chops. Kid sometimes starts slow, but he more than makes up for it. This defensive unit is fast and full of talent. There aren’t a lot of super stars (Gub is), but they play hard and like a unit that is in synch. Kudos to the coaches. I was not looking forward to the Brawl early on. Now I am optimistic. Cautiously optimistic.

Remember when the media and coaches picked the Griz to finish middle of the pack in the conference? Whoopsie.

And I remember all of that ass hat bobcat trolls, saying that’s where they belong as well. Another whoopsie. Par for the course for those ass clowns.

More proof that preseason polls/rankings are mostly meaningless.

The 3-3-5 defense is the same as last year. Everyone forgets how dominant it was until we ran into the cats last year. It's a great defense for our conference and actually should be great against the cat offense. Last year we go caught in a few twisting stunts early and the cats found their footing early. This year really should be different in the home stadium.
The difference is just somehow Breant Pease has found his way with the offensive. I was really critical of him earlier in the season. I actually think he found a way to humble himself and take some advice from Rob Phoenice. Something happened mid season that forced him to listen to someone about offensive schemes.
I like our chances against the cats. The griz are playing so aggressive and emotional right now. If they bring that fire they beat anyone in the country. The problem is that sometimes teams can run out of emotional steam.
