EWU's Stuckey declares for draft

It looks as though he decided to get paid for his immense talents, however; he didn't hire an agent so he could be back. I can't blame him. It will be fun watching his growth at the next level.

Eastern Washington's Stuckey declares for draft
Associated Press

CHENEY, Wash. -- Eastern Washington guard Rodney Stuckey said Wednesday he will make himself available for the NBA draft but will not hire an agent, leaving open the option of returning to the Eagles for his junior season.

The 6-foot-5 Stuckey averaged 24.6 points last season, leading the Big Sky Conference in scoring. He also averaged 5.52 assists and 2.45 steals.

He will have until June 18 to withdraw his name from consideration. College athletes are allowed to declare for the draft and pull out only once.

"I just think it's the best thing for me to do and I just want to see where I am out there," Stuckey said. "I still have the option to come back to school, but it's still a good thing to hear what people have to say."

I like Stuckey. He's a great player, he's unselfish, and he doesn't seem to cop an attitude. Good luck in the NBA!

ESPN has him as the 32nd best player in the draft, saying he could go mid to late first round

*note that some of the guys on the list are returning to school hence why he is the 32nd best player but still could go in mid to late first round.

How does that work when guys declare but don't sign agents? Does that mean that if he gets drafted he's gone, but if he gets passed by he can come back?

If Stuckey is projected as late first round, then there's no way he's going to get passed by in both rounds. So basically, Stuckey is gone?

they can declare but they have to decide about the agent by june 18th, if he doesnt hire an agent he can go back to EWU, if he hires one he's done. the draft is june 28th so he will have already made a decision come draft day.

That is correct. The only thing I would add is they only have until April 29th to declare their intentions to enter the NBA Draft, whether they hire an agent or not.

Rodney has been slotted for the NBA since highschool. I think he
will sign. EWU will have little or nothing without him; I wonder how
long they will stick with Burns? I wish him well; nice guy and great
talent.

I think eh wil and should go as well. As far as Burns goes I think the jury is out on his coaching prowess, one coul dsay they underachieved the last couple of seasons. He had more than just Stuckey on that team. But, former EWU Coach Giacoletti knows how fast a coaches fortunes can rise and fall after getting canned at Utah.

I hope EWU fans enjoyed this guy as much I did the 3x's I seen him play. I would welcome any player of his caliber to the BSC. Selfishly hope that player or players are GRIZ though. :thumb: I wish Stuckey the best, and will personally root for him with any team, regardless if I like the team not.

Personally I want him to land in Denver, LAkers, Milwaukee, Utah, Seattle, or Portland. 4 of the teams are regional enough for me to catch a few games. I love the lakers and nuggets. Milwaukee, now that LK is there, I like them too. LK paid Stuckey plenty of respect and kudos. This would be a good story and good for the BSC. Make BSC fans proud Rodney! :thumb:
