I was surprised when UW was unranked in the preseason poll; they are a seriously talented team.

I was too, although they did lose a couple of key cogs off last year's #1 seeded team. Still, they had a ton back as well, with a couple of great recruiting classes waiting in the wings. I'm not especially a Husky fan, but it is great to see BB doing so well in the Pacific NW. For so long, the Huskies couldn't draw flies to games (like the Griz, the women's team often out drew the men's). Now, it's the toughest ticket in town (tougher than the Hawks, even). Toss in the Zags, and hopefully the Griz, and that's some serious hoops in our corner of the world.

I'm not a huge UW fan in general either, but boy oh boy, I have to admire the athleticism of the Husky Bball team. Just think how tough they would be if Martell Webster hadn't gone straight to the NBA. I like that Brockman kid -- talk about a tough guy. He looks more like a tight end than a basketball player, but then he turns around and shows nice finesse. Good call, basketball in the NW is on the rise.

UW is for real-too many teams make the mistake of trying to run
with them. The way to play them is Bennett ball-zone D, slow it
down-shoot the ball with little time on the shot clock. I am suprised more
teams have not ried this.

I will wait to see how they play on the road in conference particularly at Stanford. Gonzaga win was interesting but Raviolli was out for the first time.

UW looks good. Romar is doing a great job of keeping local kids from going elsewhere. I would still take Gonzaga over UW, even though they lost to them a few weeks back. Adam Morrisson is so damn close to looking like Larry Legend. And he is in the same realm of a thinker like Bill Walton. To come off the court and apologize to Coach Few for playing like an effing communist cracks me up.

How do you guys see EWU and Portland State shaping up this season?

I see EWU and PSU in the middle of the pack right now or even fighting for 6th and 7th. They may fall anywhere between 4 and 7, behind MSU, UM, and Sac in no particular order. Then it will be ISU, EWU, PSU, and WSU for the last 3 spots in the tournament. NAU may make things interesting, but right now, they seem like the logical pick for last. Weber might also drop this year.

The Big Sky seems to be very competetive this year in BBall. But don't be so sure that we're going to be middle of the pack. This team is young, but has a lot of potential. Rodney Stuckey is leading the Big Sky in scoring, and is also the #1 Freshman in scoring in all of Division I. This guy is going to be scarey over the next four years.

Boz, is that your head or your heart talking? Do you really think the Cats will bounce back from their horrible start to contend for the BSC title? Not meant to be smack, but a legit question. They have really struggled.

It's part of both head and heart. The Cats have a lot of talent, but they haven't all showed it at the same time. One problem is the Cats never play great away from Bozeman, and they've played 7 out of the first 9 away from home. Now they have 8 in a row at home, where they're a completely different team. The Cats always seem to come alive at the end of December and January. I'd like to think the Cats can live up to preseason hype, but rght now, they've got a lot to prove or they'll end up in the middle of the pack (or worse) and they should not be there at all with this team. As for Eastern, they're much improved over last year and they'll do well. With the Cats, let's wait and see. Right now the Griz have to be the favorites, no question. They have a good team.
