By saying "Everything but their team is trash," it can be inferred that what was meant was, "After watching the EWU vs. UNI game today, I found the EWU football stadium to be sub-par and the attendance to be lacking. Everything but the football team in the football game I was watching was trash."

Oh, for sure. I think we've been talking by one another on this. I completely agree that he meant everything but the football team (itself) sucks.

Eastern has a larger student population than the University of Montana and has been growing faster than Montana State University.

Nothing is static. UM's fanbase is certainly not what it was in 1970. Eastern is developing a trend. Without being in a reasonably large population center, and with plenty of football competition within short drives, its a much tougher hill to climb, but a few conference championships, a couple of wins over FBS powers, national championships?

Having been here the whole time, in 1970 I would not have predicted the "fanbase" at UM nor even Washington Grizzly Stadium. Nor a feckless president that might yet wreck the whole thing. Enrollment figures should be coming out today.

I thought he said the team was good, not, "Everything about your football team sucks except for the football team." Maybe he said, "Everything but their team is trash." Oh yeah, he did.

Well maybe you guys should accept that spot that your peers in the Pac 12 is saving for you so you don't have to deal with anymore football teams that are only good at football and don't have a 25,000 seat concrete hole that just got lights 2 years ago.
