Be the last ones not named NDSU to win a championship, put together a string of Big Sky Titles and playoff appearances (even before the championship), grow their fan to the point where they regularly are at or beyond stadium capacity, beat a top 25 FBS team and most recently in-state WSU (ok, the Idaaho win doesn't count for much.)

I'd love to hear why because this sounds more like sour grapes to me...

I don;t think EWU is embarrassing. They are a great team year-after-year. Offensively, anyway. They have a coach Montana very badly tried to lure away to Missoula two years ago. BUT, I would slow your roll a little on the whole fan base thing. The high school field in Cheney was nowhere even remotely close to capacity today or even remotely close to what you would call near capacity. Any objective EWU fan, and there are some out there, will admit that, the Eags fanbase is sporadic at best.

Hmmm. I could be wrong, but I thought I heard them say attendance was 9100 today. For a stadium with an (official) capacity of 8600, that sounds pretty close doesn't it???

Your point about our facilities is well taken, we are all aware they are subpar. I think most of us are just happy to beat a quality opponent and go 2-1 in our murderer's row of an opening schedule. Stadium stuff is weak smack and something a lot of egrizzzers seem to be really fond of. If I were you, I'd be more prone to brag about the humiliation the grizz served the eags last year. We've really had the grizz's number this decade so that's a pretty good win.

I get that it just makes some people feel better about themselves, but do you think it is really a UM problem or a BSC problem? I will guess that many think the facilities issue is a BSC problem, but it really isn't.

Eastern has grown leaps and bounds in the past six years, we don't have some golden goose that donates a ton of money to the program/university, unfortunately we have one of the lowest budgets in the conference, and that's not going to change. We would LOVE to have better facilities but we make due with what we can.

As far as attendance, it is what it is. We play in the backyard of a Pac 12 football program and top 15 basketball program, we arent the flagship university of the state, or anywhere close. Maybe the embarrassing part is the fact that you guys have trouble competing wth such a small time University…

Being the 3rd largest football program in a state of over 7 million in population, EWU should expect to have higher level facilities. Unfortunately for them they are on the less populated side of the state and are very nearby WSU and UI. The populated western side of the state probably doesn't give much thought to EWU beside when they give UW a scare. That fact may limit their ability to ever grow their fan base and attendance figures to be comparable to the Montana schools, but winning has helped grow their fan base and brought on new fans. UM and MSU has benefited from large financial gifts from wealthy donors and alumni. Besides the Roos gift, I don't see that same financial support yet.

I hate the red field, but the stadium is probably just right for their current situation. Regardless, the program is among the best in the Big Sky and isn't going anywhere. It is a good thing too. With them, Idaho, and MSU, there are some good rivalries for us. Without that, conference play wouldn't be nearly as interesting.

By saying "Everything but their team is trash," it can be inferred that what was meant was, "After watching the EWU vs. UNI game today, I found the EWU football stadium to be sub-par and the attendance to be lacking. Everything but the football team in the football game I was watching was trash."

I think the stuff that happens in between the lines is the most important and it's why I watch college football. Grizz fans apparently not so much.
