EWU vs. Oregon

Except...Baldwin didn't recruit Kupp. It's a good story, though.

Eastern looked great offensively. But let's be a little realistic here, too. They were hoping their defensive woes were fixed a bit. I'm not sure they are. It's tough to gage as it is an explosive Oregon offense. But if you keep it very simplified and look only at the ability to stop their run game.....it was a nightmare. They gave up anout 8 yards per carry to every single running back who touched it. I didn't matter if it was rb1, rb2, rb3, VA, rb4, or the water boy. They couldn't stop the run once. That alone would have me quite concerned....just defensively of course. I think they still have problems and are gonna give up plenty of points. They looked very good on the offensive side though and kupp was the best receiver on the field. Hard not to like that guy. I also saw Jordan West is carrying on the proud EWU tradition of Lisa Left Eye Lopez one-eye eye black sticker. Looked weird on VA....looks even worse on the Eminem wanna be.

Totally agree on Kupp. Anybody know if/where he might be on the "Mel Kieper" type NFL draft thing?

I think Bob Stitts' offense plays right into EWU's hands. The more Easterns Offense is on the field the better it is for Eastern. It's gonna be a track meet. Yes Montana will score a lot of points but the Eagles are the team to beat and right now are 20 pts better. Eastern 67 Montana 45.

Exactly...Easterns defense may still be bad, but they just played Oregon and Royce Freeman. Eastern won't see speed like that the rest of the year. We will find out a lot more about Easterns D against UNI this weekend.

Eastern switched to a 4-2-5 this year, similar to what Cal Poly deployed against the Griz this weekend. Will be interesting to see if teams start dropping everyone into coverage and give the Griz the short routes underneath and force them to run like Cal Poly did...
