Ten receivers, name them

Homan is the only receiver on the Griz in the top 10 in any receiving category, and he's 10th in both categories, which puts 9 players ahead of him in just stats alone. Considering the Griz have the 2nd best passing offense in the Big Sky, wouldn't you expect to see more players with better numbers?

I haven't watched much of the Big Sky besides who Eastern has played, but IMO Homan or Calhoun wouldn't crack Easterns starting rotation this year, and they'd be behind Butler and Marks at NAU, so thats 5 players on just two of the teams in the conference. I'm not going to waste my time on the rest of the teams...

I also think Curran is your best receiver, including JLM...

Yup.. Dont point out facts to Brock, he'll just call you a troll..

14 different players caught passes in the Sac State game alone.
That just means that 10 players of average talent caught balls our 4 best players should have got.

JLM was leading the Big Sky and ahead of Kupp for completions per game at like 10.7. They have left him off the conference stats leads because he has missed the last 2 games and must not be hitting their minimum requirements.

He was also top 5 Big Sky for receiving yards, receiving yards per game, and all purpose yards per game. He was just named to the freshman of the year watch. He, Homan, Curran, and Calhoun are very solid. Throw in Bingham and Horner and the group is young and deep.

I have no arguments with Curran and possibly JLM (verdict is still out IMO)...but Brock asked for 10 better receivers than Homan and Calhoun, I named 3 alone on EWU, 2 on NAU, and I think Curran and JLM are better receivers on the Griz. I could go through the Big Sky but its pointless...

As stated before, I do like Curran, I'll wait and see on JLM although he is dynamic...

In fact, piggybacking off my last post here are his stats:

4 games (one bye week)
10.2 receptions per game (leads big sky, Kupp next at 9.8)
91.5 receiving yards per game (4th in Big Sky behind the EWU trio)
8.9 yards per catch

7 kick returns for 153 yards (21.9 avg)
8 punt returns for 154cyards (19.2 avg)

All purpose yards 168.25 per game.....also leading the Big Sky (Kupp is next at 158)

One observation against MSU was in zone coverage the WR would make the catch and run towards DB then back step creating space and run around DB. EWU WRs are patient and calm when ball is in the air. UM at NAU the DBs were getting happy feet or nervous when ball was in the air causing some awkward looking pass defenses that WR capitalized on.

UM will have to keep WRs in front of them and keep their composure. EWU is going to make completions the key will to eliminate the long chunk plays and force some FGs.

If EWU just had one or two exceptional WRs the task in defending the would be easier. They have a full squad of skilled players ready to play. They are well coached and are playing good offense consistently this year. Hats off to them. Griz get a chance to beat one of the best in FCS this week...GO GRIZ!!!

Watch the feathers fly.

Homan is better than Curran. It's close with JLM. You are correct in that Hill, Bourne, Kupp and Butler are all above him. There's a reason I asked for 10 and not 5...

Still waiting on those ten names. And are you actulaly denying you're a troll? Or are you doing something else on Idaho and MSU's boards other than embarrassing yourself?

There are 9 receivers around the league that have more yards per game then any of our receivers. 9!!
Yeah I can't imagine that has anything to do with having such a large rotation of receivers that see significant playing time

He didn't see significant PT until our 3rd and 4th games, and played half of the Sac State and MVSU games just like most of our starters.

So he's 10th in half the time.

Spin it however you want.. The majority of our receivers our young and untested and it shows. The guy i like the most out of that group is Justin Calhoun. Next season this group should be head and shoulders above the rest of the wr's in the big sky.

I hear ya. It was just when you mentioned Homan being the only Griz in the top 10,it caught my attention because I knew JLM ranked among all the leaders statistically. He just wasn't getting any credit for it on the stats pages because he has missed two games:

4 games (one bye week)
10.2 receptions per game (leads big sky, Kupp next at 9.8)
91.5 receiving yards per game (4th in Big Sky behind the EWU trio)

I like trolling those boards and do you think i give a rats ass what you think? No!

:finger:

The next three seasons, we will see two Griz named Calhoun at the top for both WR and RB. The Calhoun brothers will be awesome!

So, to be clear you cannot name ten receivers in the Big Sky that are better than Homan, and that next year they are suddenly going to go from average to head and shoulders above the rest of the Big Sky? I think that says it all.

Unfortunately we'll only have Jeremy for 2 more.

Ok.. ill say this. Our receiving core is probably 3rd best in the league behind EWU and NAU. To get back to my original post all i said is that they have a hard time blocking downfield and you want to spin it as if im a troll and i dont know what im talking about. Believe me i probably know just as much as if not more than you do, bud..

So now we're 3rd out of 13? With #1 being #1 in FCS overall. I thought you said average

Nice job ending with a PR style comment too. You must of played the game

I wouldn't concede anything regarding UNAU, other than the big guy is coached to push off and the other two seem to be fairly fast. Put a healthy JLM on the field with the others in rotation, and try not to over-throw them, and they're more than the equal of Fisty.
