Lunardi had EWU a 15 seed Sunday morning. He blew it again......Potomac Griz said:Lunardi does blow it often on predictions for the low mid major conferences. In his defense though, he's going by the assumption that the conference tournaments will be won by the top seed of those tournaments. So a team like Lafayette, Manhattan and Hampton winning their conference tournaments when they weren't the 1 seed bumped (and other upsets) bumped some teams up. Like Texas Southern was earlier predicted to be in the play-in game, yet those upsets bumped them up to a 15.
I didn't see where he had EWU at after the tournaments were all done..if he still had them at 15 then he really blew it. I'm guessing he had them bumped up a bit though due to those upsets.

Potomac Griz said:Going to be interesting to see how EWU handles the big guy in the middle for Georgetown. 6'10" 350lbs. Only plays 21 mins a game but against previous mid-major competition he's abused them. 22 points in 26 minutes against Robert Morris earlier this year. EWU is undersized at the post (compared to Big East teams anyway) so they're going to need to have extra hands swatting at the ball and pestering him from their guards to hopefully keep him from bulldozing his way to the basket over and over.

NO....I hope Georgetown beats them by 150!
Griz Voice of Reason said:I think they have a good shot. Great seeding. They were the best team in the Big Sky this year and proved it by beating us on our home court in front of a hostile crowd. If not for injuries, they would have won the league out right.
Potomac Griz said:Georgetown has a history of choking in the tournament too. They are NEVER a safe pick if you are filling out your bracket. Much like Wake Forest years ago. They may have a great seed, but they're going down in round 1 or 2 and busting brackets everywhere
Last 5 tournament appearances for Georgetown:
2008: 2 seed and lost to 10 seed Davidson in the 2nd round 74-70
2010: 3 seed and lost to 14 seed Ohio in the 1st round 97-83
2011: 6 seed and lost to 11 seed VCU in the 1st round 74-56.
2012: 3 seed and lost to 11 seed NC State in the 2nd round 66-63
2013: 2 seed and lost to 15 seed Florida Gulf Coast in the 1st round 78-68
EWU certainly has a chance. The size and depth of Georgetown though is going to be very tough to overcome. Other teams have done it though, and they usually aren't teams built to out-muscle their opponents but instead have an up tempo style with very talented guards.
If you look at those games where Georgetown was upset though you'll find a common theme in all but 1 (the NCState game, which was an ACC team so not undersized). GREAT scorers from the guard position.
Davidson started 3 guards and had Curry (currently making people look silly in the NBA) who had 30 points.
Ohio's 2 starting guards went off for 55 combined points on 10-18 from 3 and 17-29 overall shooting.
VCU was like 80% guard. They had 1 player over 6'6" play significant minutes and with their very high pressure defense forced 17 Georgetown turnovers.
Florida Gulf Coast's started 3 guards. They combined for 59 points.
Can EWU do what those above teams did? Maybe... Going to probably need a big game from Harvey and Brandon since inside they are at a huge disadvantage. If the 3s are falling then they have a chance, and EWU has a lot of guys who can hit the 3.
