EWU played a complete game today. Nice bounce back after last week.

I'm thinking the most likely outcome at this point is 4 teams tied at 7-1 in the Big Sky.

That's assuming Cal Poly can beat NAU. I'm not sure they will. Unfortunately, I think NAU might win the conference outright while playing quite possibly the easiest schedule in Big Sky Conference history.

I'd suggest getting four representatives from each team to meet and have a round-robin double elimination rock-paper-scissors to determine the champion.

EWU is good. The escaped against the Griz and they know it. Moo U was overrated all year and escaped with several wins including in Missoula, but their luck ran out last night. EWU was the best team in the Sky this season, cats not nearly as good as their record, Griz not as bad as theirs. Thats why they play the game. EWU-SHS will be fun to watch.

I agree with everything in your post. I don't think UM was anywhere near as bad as their record indicated this year, I just think there's coaching issues and the off the field stuff couldn't have helped. And yes, we definitely got away with one at home this year, but IMO that game is basically going to be close 9/10 times regardless of record.

MSU was decent but IMO played a soft schedule without beating any playoff-bound teams, and then of course there's the issue of not being able to win playoff games. I thought Cal Poly was a much better team and under-rated the majority of the season. They just got a damn tough opening round draw.

Not smacking, just thought this would be an interesting topic to re-visit.

They put up a lot of points tonight against a good team.

It's hard to tell what you're gonna get in an Eastern game, as all the parts are there to make a mighty fine machine. We have talent all over the field. The problem is there are a few key things we are really bad at, or at least have been bad at for most of the season. Run blocking, for example... another would be general tackling, especially against teams using a read option.

Still, even playing down to our competition almost every week, Eastern wins most of the time by simly having more talent and making enough big plays to win. And although playing down has been a problem, Eastern has also shown a knack for playing up against quality opponents.

I have no idea what to expect next week with Sam Houston State. Cal Poly kept them under wraps and should have beaten them. Montana State flat got rolled. Did Cal Poly just play great and MSU terrible? Or did Sam Houston State just take a week off against Cal Poly and find their real form yesterday? I don't know the answers.

But it was another year finishing up with the Bobcats getting blasted out of the playoffs. They just lost their offense a few weeks back and never found it again.
