EWU 2016 football schedule

It will be a better defense, because it really can't be worse (Pretty young last year, and a new scheme). Ball control will help a little, but there's still a lot work to do. Going 0-3 or 1-2 to start the season will not help. It's admirable that EWU is playing a brutal schedule, but not practical for the brackets! 7-4 will get them in, but it's a tough road!

I've hated our scheduling for years now. We either play 2 FBS games a year, or one FBS game and two top 15 FCS teams every year in non-conf, its ridiculous. Its one thing to schedule tough, its another to schedule yourselves with slim playoff chances every year. Its all about the $$$ and we don't have what the Montana schools have, or even close to it, in terms of support.

If you want to know how bad our scheduling is, in 2011, the year after we won the Title and had most of our team returning, we played 4 home games, 4 freaking home games...

We get Shaq Hill back on Offense next year and he's an all conference receiver and returner who we lost in the Oregon game, may be the fastest player in the big sky and will help coverages not just focus on Coop...Our D can only improve...hopefully...

Remember: Last year MSU thought THEIR defense had nowhere to go but up...

Last year's 57-16 beat down was bad. Embarrassing. Ugly. Nearly erases the 4 game win streak EWU had going in to that game, at least in my mind. If not for one of those 4 wins in a row being in the playoffs...it probably would.

For those that believe EWU is trending downward...I believe you're wrong. But you're pretty much the same group that has said the downfall of EWU was coming nearly every year since 2010. With that said, EWU could have a very good team this season with an average record based on the brutal schedule.

I'm sorry, but good Christ Baldwin has to do something about that D. They won three games by miracles last year and still finished 6-5 (and yes I know the Griz had some close games too). Just not gonna win a lot of games giving up 61, 38, 50, 41, 41, 52, 57. That's a lot to ask of ANY offense, even EWU's.

50 to MSU, 52 to NAU, and 57 to UM were the killers. Oregon was always going to put up points. Easterns D will be better this year and the offense should be much improved as well.

Theyre taking the Bobcats defensive model into this season.

When your defense is terrible, it has no where to go but up right.....

EWU's defensive stats last year:

Total defense: 117/123 FCS teams -- 476.4 yards/game given up

Scoring defense: 116/123 FCS teams -- 39.5 points/game

Bison pound this team by 30+

EWU has lost by 30+ twice since 2007. One to the #10 FBS ranked Cal in 2009 and of course, last year to the Griz in a humbling blowout.

So...nice try.

I'm looking forward to the Bison curb stomping EWU. Looking forward to seeing one of the most porous defenses in the FCS.....

I disagree, but I have a red colored blindfold ;)

Interesting enough, Bisonfan's blindfold is a rich buttery brown color.

Nah, 5 titles in a row softens the loss...

It is still going to be a beat down though... :thumb:

This is a thread about EWU's schedule! I know NDSU plays them, and that's all that is relevant. Why don't you go back to your inbred Bison site, where you can brag among your hot-dish-eating kin. Back to snicker salad land with you! :tounge:

Hey I applaud EWU for a tough schedule. They could be like these guys:

Thu, Sep. 1, 2016
at at Idaho
Sat, Sep. 10, 2016
vs Bryant
Sat, Sep. 17, 2016
vs Western Oregon

Yep. The preseason champs are at it again. Assuring they miss the playoffs with a weak ass preseason. To be fair, Bryant, the cream of the Cat's schedule, did eak out out a 2-point win over our powderpuff St Francis last year.

Can I have some of what you're smoking? Must be some real good stuff.

EWU started off hot then their QB got real cold (a rarity for EWU.) They have the tools to keep up with the points NDSU will put up against their porous defense.

Haha upon first reading I thought you came up with a new nickname for coach B. "Christ Baldwin" has a nice ring to it.

Really?

Here is a little nugget for you......NDSU has a defense, EWU doesn't!! Bison will hold EWU to 10 points or less.
