Good thread on rebounding. I agree.
Travis DeCuire has been very clear regarding his system of rebounding in combo with fall-back guard defense. One of his key rebounding principles is to have one of his athletic guards "post up" for rebounds in the middle of the key, just below the free throw line back of the bigs battling under the hoop, while the other guard would quickly retreat on defense. Three former Griz who were masters at this were Ahmaad Rorie, Michael Oguine and Sayeed Pridgett. You'll often see Brandon Whitney or Cameron Parker set set up for longer rebounds in this area, but with not as much consistent success. Simply put: Rorie, Oguine and Pridgett were masters of this rebounding concept. Whitney especially, Robbie Beasley, Lonnell Martin and Parker are, however, outstanding man-on defenders. Good coaches put players into situations where they're best equipped to succeed.
