With the new media guide coming out and having a new record holder in Jamal Jones with career receiving yards, I thought it would be interesting to look at the history of record holders in some major categories in UM history. Obviously a lot of stats weren't kept in the olden days when PR played. Most offensive stats started becoming accurate around the late 40's and defensive stats around the late 70's.
I focused on yards and TD's for passing, rushing, and receiving for offense. Defensively I picked tackles, tackles for a loss, sacks, and INT's. I also picked pts by kickers to throw in some special teams play.
Couple interesting notes on the passing records. One, it's obviously well known that Dickensons playoff totals are not added to these totals and his records should actually be bigger and therefore maybe untouchable. Two, what Don Read did for the Grizzly QBing records was incredible. It's gonna be interesting to see if Stitt can change any of these records.

As for the rushing records, it would be interesting to see where Bill Kelly's numbers compare. I'm pretty certain he had to have run for over 1,000 yards in at least one of his seasons considering he put up 300+ on MSU alone one year. You can tell from the TD rushing career record how Bobby Ball helped rewrite the rushing records giving us two of the three top running backs in school history w/ all three going over 4,000 yards in their careers. Scary to think what Yo would have had if he played for a Bobby team.

Like the passing records, the receiving records were rewritten by the Don Read era until a certain receiver from Havre came along. Last year Mr Consistent Jamal Jones took over the top spot at career receiving yards but given the most experienced receiver has only three starts, it may be awhile before any new records are broken. Then again, with two Fr in the starting line up, those career marks might be in jeopardy in four years.
