Evan Epperly

Watching Epperly run down #22 Jerome on that first KO after the half was a thing of beauty.

Plus, he had no angle and the dive was perfectly timed and effective. Before he dove, I was able to say dive twice in a row to my group, as I could see he was close enough to get a heal and not going to catch the returner otherwise. Terrific play.

As my years of rugby went on, and my speed declined, I became quite good with the exact same dive and slap a heel trick. Don't know why NFL guys will never do that. Even when they catch a guy and tackle him from behind at the shoulder level, they have given up an extra 15 or so yards. It sometimes hurts to do the dive and slap/tackle trick. I've wondered if that's why most NFL guys don't dive from behind.

Can they teach that with the rolling donut over in Scat Pond?

Group said you are the saddest poster on egriz.

I'm sure they did. One other thing. Was your group composed of the Washington's and other significant donors or was it composed of Winnie The Pooh and other stuffed dolls? I'm putting 'alot' of my money on the latter.

Just the routine rich and famous who hang out on the decks of the Canyon Club and in the Suites. Nobody as famous as Carlos Vargas-Aburto, tho.
Wow. you can search the internet. Dr Vargas if fine.

Isnt the rich and famous group more used to seeing your gargle/tickle trick more so than the slap/tackle PR????

He learns from the best. Shann might not have been the best hitter, run supporter, pass defender, etc.
But open field tackling and tracking down, he was the best.
Anyone remember the amazing TD saving tackle Shann had @ wagriz vs the kitties? Led to a goaline stand and the turning point in the game.
I agree, that was an amazing tackle after fighting off the blocker. The goal line stand was a pivotal point even though it was at the beginning of the game.
Grizpsysch, you need to get over your infatuation of PR and his success.

Are you referring to his success with the gargle/tickle move when used on his rich and famous friends???

Personally I feel PR has shown success on multiple levels. In regard to Griz, I have come to appreciate some people's insight such as PR, BW and a few others. I find they are accurate on most of their comments. The fact that PR now and then shares personal experience information or positive info on people he knows that were or are associated with the Griz is also appreciated, but some of you take that as arrogance or name dropping or whatever. I don't, I appreciate the info. Some people like Grizpsych are always trying to throw a dig at PR for no apparent reason. IMO it comes off as childish, but Gp does it so much it comes off as infatuation. Sorry that was probably too much answer.

I have long championed Evan Epperly on this site. (Get your heads out of the gutter, I know I said long... :thumb: ) But I digress. Glad to see him finally get some recognition.

As Grady Bennett mentioned on the telecast (post TD saving tackle), Evan Epperly was a sprinter in HS. Ended his SR season running great times:

5th.....11.15a.....May 31, 2014.....MHSA Class AA State Championship.....V Prelim
6th.....11.14a.....May 31, 2014.....MHSA Class AA State Championship.....V Final

I agree with Paytonlives, they need to get this guy the ball, he was an electric play-maker in HS for a dominant team.

Native, I see your point here. And, I do appreciate PR's insight into the game of football as well as his contributions to the Griz. However, I abhor his use of name dropping and other behaviors that end up putting others down while raising himself up. Take for example the previous post in this thread. He had a nice reply concerning yelling dive twice before Epperly made the tackle. I too, felt the exact same way. That play was probably the most stressful of the game for me. But, what did his group have to do with anything?

Anyway, my need is to stick up to bullies, it's not an infatuation with anyone person. For PR, I've noticed his abnormal need to outclass others and I sometimes use that against him to increase his blood pressure--that's all. In the long run, this board is for entertainment.

Good reply and I respect your opinion. I agree his group had nothing to do with it, but I over look those comments and only consider the information. Bottom line we can all agree Epperly made an incredible play.

Are you serious? You were offended by my saying "to my group" (see below). You considered mentioning "group" to be name-dropping and putting other people down? Had I said this, you wouldn't have been so offended. "I was able to say dive twice out loud", or "able to say dive twice"?

This was my post that upset grizpsych. "Before he dove, I was able to say dive twice in a row to my group, as I could see he was close enough to get a heal and not going to catch the returner otherwise. Terrific play."

On a Griz athletic message board, it is not name-dropping to say occasionally or from time to time that you talked to a coach, player, ex-player, parent, or member of the athletic department. That's where most of the good information comes from. If you are offended by that, then you are going to have a long life and probably should seek medical help. This is probably name-dropping. I talked this week, including about the game, to Stitt, Niekamp, Hendricks, Ferriter, JB Hall, and Selle, and also talked to Sweet, Semore, Green, Schillinger and Germer. Also, a handful of players. I texted with TG. Returning the favor, I am only trying to get your blood pressure up.

No, then we'd have thought you were just talking to yourself...which may be worse.

Chase Reynolds liked one of my tweets. Does that count?

Glad he liked one of your tweets. Hasn't ever liked any of mine, but I don't tweet, so that may be the problem. I left a voice mail for Chase's dad last Friday, inviting him to the game on Saturday, but he didn't return the call. Where does that leave me? Perhaps talking to myself.

Well, you'll know it's bad when even YOU won't listen to yourself.

PR, name dropping by itself doesn't upset me at all. It's when you do it to make others inferior. Honestly, I probably wouldn't even notice if it wasn't for the insightful analyses you offer in your posts too. I feel the same about Growler and his aliases. I use this board for entertainment and to learn about football and the Griz--so do others. Thus, I try to protect this board and my goals when I see posts that depreciate it's existence. Frankly, poking fun at you is entertaining for many other posters here. With that written though, I'll back off some so that posters like Native can continue enjoying the board.

Yeah, Psych, it might be a good choice to back off … you start to sound a bit unnaturally obsessed. Maybe you need a little analysis … especially after also having felt the need to rationalize your morbid preoccupation. As for PR, I like his info and don’t see his “name dropping” as such, but more like details in a conversation. Having said that, I must here accuse him of plagiarism. I think “Dive! Dive!” was actually first uttered by Richard Widmark in that big submarine movie …

I was excited to see a two page thread about one of the unsung grinders on the team being recognized for effort.

Oh well....

Just the clueless or narcissistic ones, of which there are just a few. (Do you see these people "troll" Brint?)
