ESPN on Bobby Petrino

I know this has been discussed already, but I thought I'd pass along what ESPN is saying. I just heard a number of comments about Bobby P.. Words like classless, cowardly, deceitful, no trust, among others, were used to describe this guy.

Emmitt Smith talked about Jimmy Johnson in a similar spot his fist year at Dallas. At 1-15 he could have packed it in and went back to the college ranks, but he didn't, he stuck with it.

Tom Jackson talked about how he went back and reviewed what Bobby's past was. He found that he had just signed a multi year extension with Louisville, and two days later was out interviewing with another university. TJ talked about this being a pattern of behavior from this guy.

Every word I heard, I agree with. Sure, he can do whatever he wants to get the most he can. But it doesn't come without it's consequences. You get tagged with labels like these guys gave him - and in this case, they are very fitting. What a classless guy!!

Kinda sounds like what The Tuna did to Tampa. But perhaps, like hoops, the pro game is too much of a jump for some coaches, and he couldn't handle it. Lou Holtz coached the Jets at one time, and I don't believe that he lasted as long as Petrino did. I think Holtz was fired (not exactly sure about that), which would make the situation somewhat different. But there's enough similarity in that Holtz went straight back to college, where he was comfortable.

At least Petrino didn't pull a Billy Donovan.

Funny how guys like Emmitt Smith forget how he heldout while under contract in order to get more money while the rest of his teammates were getting it handed to them.
