ESPN: Inaccurate and Disrespectful

SaskGriz said:
Does anybody honestly care who wins the FBS national championship? Did Alabama win again? Big deal. It's like watching the NCAA basketball tournament and wondering if Kentuky's group of AAU one and done "student athletes" will beat Louisville's AAU team.
I follow the Griz because this is my school and the state I love! Joke em if they can't take a f**k.

This!

Ah, the age old lack of respect by media leading to lack of interest or respect by fans. At the last NC I was coming home through Atlanta and a GU fan asked what the Grizzlies were and I told him about the game they just played and he shrugged like he never heard of it. I said, yep they are pretty good, check the Sagarin ratings, you'll find them ranked just ahead of...Georgia. (Which was true by the way).

... You might find this hard to believe, but the fact that you started this thread does not mean that every single post that appears in it is a direct response to the title of the thread, or to one of your posts.

Please look at my post, and at the post I was quoting when I wrote it, and then explain to me why you think I need to recheck the title of the thread.
You don't of course, and I stand (properly) corrected.

"Side conversation/exchanges" are entirely proper and to be expected. My apologies.
No apology needed. I do appreciate the mature response; it's a refreshing change from the behavior of many on this board when anyone disagrees with them..

You two are starting to sound like the overly polite chipmunks on the Warner Brothers cartoons.

I thought the same exact thing but figured no one would get the reference. BTW, They actually aren't chipmunks they are Mac and Tosh, the Goofy Gophers. You've obviously never played the game and you're a bad fan!

Sorry Clark, I just wanted to walk this back to e-griz standards... :)

Maybe. I love the irony, though - a guy who has lived and/or worked in New York City for most of the past 15 years comes to a Montana message board and gets made fun of for not being enough of an a$$hole. ;)

Life is full of mysteries. Merry Christmas!

I am going to make some assumptions here knowing what That means.

FBS..220 teams approximately. The rest of "college football" meaning FCS, DIV II, DIV III, NAIA, JUCO, and probably a couple more I don't know about have over 500 teams approximately, maybe more..
Therein lies the arrogance of the whole of broadcast media, FCS schools, et al, and the general public. To state that FBS football is "College Football" is ludicrous. I for one get pissed every time I hear the term "College Football." But, in reality what can you expect from idiots in larger metropolitan areas who think we still ride horses and shoot Indians for a living.

220 teams? I think your math is wrong.

HENCE the disclaimer sir..... I made an "assumption" and also said "approximately".... re-read... If you got the exact number then post it... geeeeeezzz One of the reasons I don't post much on here anymore is that no matter what a person posts ... some ....... has to pick it apart. Who the hell cares if it is 220 or 520.... not the point...

I stand corrected... 128 FBS schools... hope that clears things up.... Per the National Football Foundation, in 2012 there were just short of 650 NCAA football teams (not counting NAIA or JUCO)... the whole point to all of this is that the FBS is in a LARGE minority when it comes to college football... but they garner the VAST majority of media coverage and notoriety. :?

Depends on your focus. Some of you live and die by Montana high school football, some by Griz or Cat football, and some are Roll Tiders. Individual interest. Those ESPNers have the 'bully pulpit.'
