Anyone with Charter (Optimum) cable in Montana have any luck with the WatchESPN app? Every time I try to login with Charter it takes me to their login page and supposedly Charter hasn't linked their new Optimum accounts with the Charter ones. And if you click on Optimum in the app it takes you to Cablevisions login page. Anyone out there get this to work? Right now I can only watch through a web browser and would love to be able to watch from the app

I had the same problem, first with Verizon and then with Charter. The NCAA should be ashamed of itself for shoving the FCS onto and Internet platform that's worse than the obamacare website.
ESPN did not pay $550 for all NCAA championships. It paid for what it wanted and shoved what it didn't onto an internet junk pile.
If anybody bought up all the ingredients that a competitor might use to make a product that would compete with their own, the Federal Trade Commission would be on you like cold on WGS in December, especially if you were a national brand. And yet, that is exactly what ESPN is doing while the FCC looks the other way. The FCC should reject these huge package deals as anti-competitive and force the NCAA to breakup the deal into smaller pieces. That doesn't mean that ESPN couldn't bid on all of them anyway but it might allow someone else to get a piece of content that serves the niche clientele of FCS football. Or it may make no difference but it at least opens the door for competition.

Get a Roku device and you can watch ESPN3 on your TV.

Not sure what that is or if it makes the feed/resolution any different? My computer is hooked with HDMI to big screen anyway. Sometimes it's a pretty good pic other times not so much. Likely depends on your provider or speed or something or other.

I know a lot of Montanan's cannot watch ESPN3 due to their internet providers, but I wanted to say that I watched a couple games on my TV through the XBOX with a gold membership and was very surprised at how good the quality was. Somewhere in between SD and HD.

Essentially I am saying that if you have an affiliated internet provider and an XBOX, pay the one month gold membership to watch the games.

a ? for people in the know about charter....does this mean we can not buy this package for $25.00 like we have done before or that we can buy it....which is it...thanks...signed challenged in this area.

TNT, thanks for the puffin app solution. I tried it out and it worked...after a couple of tries... apparently my wife finds running out to watch the game from the maternity ward following a delivery somewhat off-putting...I know, weird right!? I thought so too, therefore I was contemplating bringing the Xbox to the hospital room we'll be in except I doubt they have a lan I can plug into...Grrrr. otherwise we'd be good to go! :P ......I also tried the "Time off for good behavior" bit but was immediately threatened with a most intimate type of dismemberment which won't be spoken of here....so thanks again!!!

It will be available for purchase on ESPN Gameplan.

Just got off the phone w/ a rep. at Charter. They don't know what channel it will be on & told me to call back Fri. By then, they'll have the system updated. Seems this situation developed fast & Missoulian put out the info before Charter able to set it up.

The Game plan channels are 421 -426 in most cable systems.. Confirmation from ESPN came to the cable office late in the day, and talking points for the Call center/ retail centers have not yet been given out. As far the system being updated.. if you were to purchase the the event day today... your cable guide on your TV will not populate the game information until moments before kickoff.

Last time I called them directly thru customer service. That game might have been the Tennessee game. I was able to order the game (just the one I wanted) by doing that.

I just spoke with customer service at DirecTV. After several minutes of searching, she told me the FCS football package will be available for purchase Friday after 4:00 p.m. for $39.95. So, ESPN and the NCAA will be making lots of money.

It's pretty amazing to me that last year, the Griz weren't in the playoffs and this round WAS NOT on ESPN GamePlan. Griz back in, all of sudden, GamePlan. Funny how that works so bitching about ESPN and the price is pretty rediculous to me.

Just so Griz fans know, as long as the University of Montana football team remains a member of the FCS, there will NOT be a Griz' playoff game on local TV through 2019. That's how long ESPN owns the right to all NCAA championships, EXCEPT, the Final Four. ESPN also owns the broadcast rights to all but four FBS postseason bowl games, so if the Griz move up, and make a bowl, ESPN it is. The only way for Montana to get away from ESPN at this point is to become NAIA or a junior college. So fans might just want to get used to it for the forseeable future.

It seems like I was able to purchase the AppSt game last year for like $7 through directv.

Wow! I just got off the phone with Direct TV. The call lasted 40 minutes. I talked to three customer service representatives, and not one of them could help me order the ESPN Gameplan 1 day subscription. They all kept wanting to confirm that the game I want (you know who) was going to be available. They could not find it, nor could they find any of the other FCS playoff games scheduled for Saturday. For that matter, all three reps thought I was talking about basketball.

The last person I talked to suggested I wait until the day of the game to see if it was available before ordering it. I sure hope this happens. The closest GRIZ bar is 2 and half hours away!

Also, can someone confirm if the weather will be cold on game day?

On Charter (Optimum), in the past, games were CH's 624 or 625, altho I don't think they were on GamePlan. I'm going to call Fri. so I definitely know CH number.

The DirectTV rep I spoke with had to really search to find it, but look on Friday after 4:00 p.m. High of 8 in Missoula forecasted now. D

Yes you can watch sports center highlights and somr other ESPN3 programing with a Roku, but you will only be able to view the game if your ISP is listed as an ESPN3 provider. The same is true for all phones, tablets, streaming media players, Xbox 360....If your ISP isn't listed you are SOL and gameplan pay per view is your only option unless you want to pay for and attempt a VPN workaround as mentioned by another poster on egriz.

Not sure what the deal is with Roku, but last Saturday I was able to see the 1st round games thru it here in Missoula and I am on Optimum/Charter cable internet. This is all I know.

Because Optimum/Charter internet ISP is a registered provider for ESPN3, thus that is how you were able to watch it.
