ESPN+ Coverage of UM/WIU game

I think the Big Sky should abandon their Root contract. It was always frustrating for me when UND played you guys, because I live outside of the Root coverage area, and couldn't watch the game except for at a bar, where I will miss half of it due to waitresses and talking to people. I have wanted to watch non-UND UM and MSU games as well, and am constantly let down by Root.

With the advent of streaming television packages, I really think the Big Sky would be better by abandoning the current TV contract. I like the way the Summit does it - all games are on ESPN 3, but the schools can still sign their own TV contracts with networks like Midco, while at the same time requiring the production to be also aired on ESPN3.

Our hockey conference has a similar setup as the Big Sky, which also works ok. Instead of Pluto, they have their own package that can be purchased through the league website. All games are streamed through the conference website or their Roku and cell phone app. The only games that aren't streamed through the conference streaming package are the games on CBS Sports Network, but at least CBS Sports can be streamed through multiple cord cutting services, and the games are spread throughout the league. Pretty sure this package has netted each school close to 100K in hockey streaming alone. And it is good quality. Without the NCHC streaming package, I would not be able to watch UND hockey, because I cannot get Midco in my area, and they do not sell streaming packages, similar to Root.

The big sky has a huge following from schools like Montana and Montana State. They should either hop on ESPN or start their own streaming service, and they could potentially start making some money off of streaming. Additionally, Pluto is a shit service - the quality is awful and unreliable.

By dropping Root I really think Montana could actually get more eyeballs watching their games.

If last week's game was any indication of espn+, you fatties in the summit can have it.

Are North Dakota waitresses being blamed for your attention deficit problems in a room with onion rings (ADD-OR)?

The league can mandate standards. All of the NCHC streams are high quality. UM could make a lot of money on this if they structured this similar the the NCHC tv package.

Bars suck because the hot Scandinavian waitresses take my eyes off the TV. And they are constantly badgering me asking for my phone number, etc.

streaming revenue isn't split evenly by the schools. "Eighty-five percent of all revenue generated is distributed back to the conference members through an internal model based upon subscriber affiliation. The remaining fifteen percent of revenue is retained by the conference office to manage the network" https://www.nchchockey.com/news_article/show/925173
