ESPN Cleaning House

ESPN has destroyed itself and been irrelevant for a long time.

Why do people keep saying this? There’s one big dog in sports — particularly college athletics — and it’s ESPN. And the separation between their closest competitor is as great as noco football is to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Really the only major sports they don’t control are the NFL (although they’re still a major partner) and the PGA tour.

I don’t understand it, either. ESPN is how I get to watch the Griz play sports on TV. I think I’ve watched ESPN content 95% of my days since I was about 7 years old. 🤷‍♂️

Didn't help your sports knowledge.

Confirmation that you aren't very old. I remember when Cable TV first came to the sh*thole town I was living in at the time. ESPN was launched in 1979, long AFTER the cable TV crew was digging up the streets and alleys to lay its cable.

Say what you want about ESPN, but I'm going to miss Booger McFarland's uninformed insights come FCS playoff time.

Their inserting their left political BS into the sports coverage doesn't bother you as much as some. Figures.

 I honestly don't really notice. I only watch the live sports and SC at night for highlights, so maybe the daytime stuff is more slanted or something. I do know they keep trying to make the WNBA a thing. It's never going to be a thing. I say that as a father of two female youth athletes. I think their coverage of the baseball and softball CWS is awesome. All that said, you are 100% correct that political narratives don't bother me as much as some. I know where I stand on that stuff, and a cable sports news channel isn't going to change it. :thumb:

Never knew this was happening, but I don’t listen to the babbling heads on that station anymore than I do on fox or msnbc.

But I’m sure if they said anything that could be perceived as a slight against the right it was covered extensively on whatever “news” channel you prefer.

That said, I’ll continue to watch them as they cover sports better than anyone in the business. Oh, and I’m not a political nutjob.

I’ve said it before: Politics is a sport for some people. They have their “team”, and anything the other “team” does is wrong. I fully admit that I treat MSU Football exactly that way, so I understand the mindset. I just don’t do it with politics because I don’t follow that sport.

Weird. I had no idea that “ESPN” had any political leanings whatsoever.

You know they only showed highlights of that Ohtani moonshot to own the libs. The ball went to right field, after all. It was subtle, but it was there.

OMG

I’m genuinely curious what shows/broadcasts on ESPN display political leanings. I’ve never heard anything like, “And there’s a deep drive to left center, and that’s what you should be politically” and I watch every day. Is it the daytime stuff? Which way are they leaning? I need to know which side I’m on so I can get mad about watching sports via satellite from thousands of miles away.

But you got that Bobcat psychosis down pat. I'll give you that one!

💯 %.
I was just posting “False” without really reading your post, because, statistically, I would be correct more often than not by just typing “False” in response to your posts. It’s been proven through the years. Scholars contend that it’s up there with the law of gravity.

Understandable confusion I guess, if you consider general media coverage to be politically neutral.

I consider ESPN not to be left leaning channel. Feel free to list all the left-leaning stuff that comes out of ESPN tv.
