Enrollment Up Again

Is she interested in UM? What about msu or nau?

My kids got hundreds of said mailers...all and I mean 100% of them are now in a landfill somewhere.

I'm not suggesting mailers don't matter, but good grief - sometimes being proactive is better than going on the interwebs to complain...

If she want to be a Griz - will take her about 2 minutes to fill this out.

Not really a complaint as much as an observation. She's already in college as she's in running start.

Totally agree. Got my BS in Microbiology from UM. While I don't work in the field, the education I received has opened many technical doors for me.
Chemistry for me. Undergrad research gave me a real head start for grad school and a career in the field. Chemistry at MSU was but a servant for the Chem Engineering dept.

U of M should embrace being the open ended school. They want to cut so many programs that allow for people to feel comfortable. They keep on pouring their money into that fucking evil business building. The kids over there are so power hungry. I feel it everytime I step foot in there.

There’s other components to STEM that UM excels at. They need to take back the narrative that’s been slanted towards one aspect and show why we have R1 status and excel in the sciences as well as the programs that set us apart from that school over the divide. How this narrative has been sold to Montana high schoolers and been allowed to perpetuate for so long is crazy. Especially when a majority of those students won’t even go into engineering or pass some of the prerequisites.
This is 1000% accurate. Our struggle for the past 15 years has been due to a lack of effort. We dont outreach to prospective students, we dont market the university well in a meaningful way, and we fall back to excuse narratives that actually aren't even true at all, i.e. we dont have STEM, engineering is popular, ect ect. Engineering is not a popular degree. Kids don't like it, it's difficult, and the career is just... OK. The abundance of great careers that a University of Montana degree can provide is vast. We need to share the story better.

Aerospace engineering is a solid degree given the current state of world affairs. Lockheed and Raytheon are some of the most stable companies to work for.

Its solid. Pretty good. Not overly better than anything you can go do after an education at UM. Pre medicine, PT, pharmacy, law, STEM UM offers, biz school etc etc

Programs like women, sexuality, and gender studies?

Well, the VP of Marketing position that reports directly to the president is open, so here’s everyone’s chance to turn in their application! 😊
