What some of you can’t seem to grasp is: Portland State is a damn good team. Not perfect, but damn good.

Yes, one of their wins is against an NAIA opponent, but they also convincingly beat Washington State … which is currently 5-2 and second in the Pac-12 North. Then they lost to UND (by 2 points), so we all thought they had got lucky. But then they smashed North Texas, 66-7. (Yes, North Texas has not won a game, but they played FBS #10 Iowa closer than they did PSU.) Since then, PSU has beat MSU, Cal Poly and (sadly) Montana.

Yes, the Griz looked pretty bad, and I worry about the rest of the season. But let’s not overlook the fact that the opponent deserves some credit for being damn good.

Yes, Portland St.is a very good team . But the Griz were not. No playoffs this year!

Many points are valid in this thread. Yes, embarrassed. Yes, still a Griz fan. But I will throw it a different way. Its not going to take many more games like this for Griz fans to waive a middle finger at the administration for so severally overcharging Griz fans for season tickets the past whatever years when these type of results are produced.
The line nails it about every 8th play. I was worried when I saw how Simis floated the ball last week. Now, you watch, we will again change our qb back to Brady after all these weeks. This only produces again another week of trying to get on the page. There are indeed many faults and yet hard to get down on the team given what they have to work with. But still...you're living under a fucking rock denying that this team is anywhere capable. It shows on the players AND the staff. Even Stitt going to half with only 47 plays. He's trying.....impossible to point a finger at one area. Just one of those years with injuries, staff issues and personnel.
I cannot imagine we win out
......guarantee we drop either Ewoo or Miss U.

Actually, having watched EWU and MSU this weekend, I think the Griz have a better than even chance against both of them. Let's face it, EWU lucked out: BITD, even I could have made at least one of the WSU FG chances. Credit where credit is due -- EWU did what they had to win, but it highlighted some major weak points. MSU ... 'nuff said. I really worry more about a crap game at ISU.

I would have been disappointed if the score were closer than it was. But, 35-16? Yeah, that's an embarrassment for a Griz team. The PSU OL opened holes; the UM OL didn't. The PSU DL closed holes; the UM DL didn't. PSU made 1st & 10s routine; UM struggled for every one.

Ridiculous, but I'd expect nothing less from you.

Did the PSU O-line open holes? Yes. They've done it ALL year, to EVERY team they've played with the exception of UND.
Did the UM O-line open holes? Yes. Minus the 5 sacks, they had 179 yards rushing on 42 attempts.
Also, the two teams had the exact same # of 1st downs so I have no idea what your "1st & 10's routine" comment means.

This game hinged on one thing: Big plays. PSU's 5 scoring plays were 41 (on 3rd & 19), 46 (on 3rd &2), 35 (on 3rd & 8), 47 and 37 yards (on 3rd & 9). Third and long---right where we wanted 'em....

edit: Oh, and I'm embarrassed that the dipshit that started this thread doesn't even know how to spell embarrassed.

Good point on the spelling. Good point on the characterization. Very, very disappointed is more appropriate. But, lets not lower our expectations.

This is my view too. Good post, CDA. The contrary jokers in this thread embarrass UM, and must not understand the game or have played it.

Anyone who is embarrassed is a total idiot in my view. You ought to be embarrassed by yourself and your comments. Stop embarrassing yourself and Griz Nation.

Is this your only way to get any attention? I think it is.

Um...but lets remember that two of there wins are against FBS schools... how did anyone miss this? They set the record this year for the worst loss a FBS school has ever had against and FCS opponent... as in EVER. They beat washington state and north texas (who's coach was fired in the locker room after the game)...

I live in Portland... I was disappointed, but I was also disappointed in watching Griz Fans act like Duck Fans...Portland State is F'n tough this year, and by the way they have had to take the bus to every game except for the Texas game...And played 'home' games with more visiting fans showing up (Montana and Montana State)...

Everyone chill...The Griz are a major reason why the Big Sky is a much tougher league...They raised the bar high and teams have caught up... It's not the end of the world. Besides, this successful year has probably saved PSU football program from extinction.

Interesting. Nice post.

Game very remindful of last year's CPSLO game, a 20 point loss. But you're never as bad as when you're at your worst and never as good as when you're at your best. It's one game in the season; we go because there may be some good ones left.

But I firmly believe the Griz could have been at their best and not beaten PSU in Portland. Nor likely could UO or OSU....

CDA, great post. If you're embarrassed by 18-24 year old kids who sustain concussions, ligament and bone injuries, who give up a good portion of a good portion of their youth to play a game they love, and for a team that they love, than you have some serious issues. The Griz played hard as they could. I never get the "It looked like they didn't want it, or didn't play hard". It's just not true, they wanted as bas as they want every game. I'm sorry that some of you can't see that, but it's not open for debate. But don't take my word for it, go find Van Ackeren and Kose and Crittendon and ask them how bad they wanted it for yourselves.

Oh and by the way, give Portland State some damn credit too. They are a very good football team.

Yes. Hence why I said "minus the 5 sacks", which cost us -19 yards. It's math...

I also can accept the fact that Portland State is a better football team than the Griz. Not just today, they are just better this season period. Do I like it? No. Do I live in a world where I let it ruin my life? No.

+ 1. Some people need to relax. Go for a hike. Read a book. Anything but obsess over something you have no control over. Griz are down right now. If that causes embarrassment then you're too emotionally invested IMO

The Griz single-handedly saved this Conference from extinction. PSU deserves all the credit in the world.

Embarrassment is a bad thing?...Really?. If you're the Griz it should be all the motivation you need to make sure it damn well doesn't happen again.
