This offense will be plenty dynamic enough to compete especially if the OL can reduce the amount of hits JJ takes in 2014.
However, Defense wins championships! Always has always will. I would love a few LB drop downs for added depth. More physical Corners that can cover without starting 8-12 yds off opposing WRs & TACKLE in space when necessary.
I would love to see the coaching staff recruit a few JC guys who are program ready. Coach up the talent we have & find a way to to improve the defense into a unit that has the versatility to handle the multiple schemes that we will face in 2014.
The rugged toughness of the high quality in state players is a big factor. But let's be very selective about players that fall into this category. There's no way we should loose in in state to the Cats in this area. However, if we do fall short to MSU, don't just go grab the next guy. scholly's are a premium right now. Use them to fill the wholes that are most specific to immediate success.
There's a huge amount of offensive talent on this club next year. We need to strike while the iron is red hot if the Griz are going to go deep in 2014. Seize the moment gentlemen!
Happy New Year

this all sounds good, however, do you think that we have the coaches that will be this aggressive in recruiting and implement the coaching it is gonna take to get the defense up to this standard?
is it our talent or lack of coaching or both that makes this statement of yours ring true:
More physical Corners that can cover without starting 8-12 yds off opposing WRs & TACKLE in space when necessary.
The talent is more than apparent! However, (IMO) player development is a completely seperate but vital portion of the coaching process. I am fortunate as coaching & development is something I have been involved with in the past.
Keep in mind that this is a contract year for the staff. So there's a huge amount of focus on meeting the goals of success as a staff. Recruting Wise...it my belief that programs & players within that program are the best recruiters. Coaches are the vehicle that delivers those athletes to the program.
However, you to assume that the recruits & their familes understand the "contract year" dilemma & are considering what may take place regarding staff changes. The dead period ends January 3rd. We need boots on the ground early on January 4th. Our current players will play a tremendous role this year in landing the guys THEY want to go to battle with moving forward.
I beleive that the message to recruits will be that the next Griz HC will come from within. This would reassure recruits of program continuity for the future. I hope that answered your question & I love this time of year. having been invovle before as a player, father & advisor to other parents, the recruiting process is extremely intruging & exciting time of year.
