eGriz Hall of Fame

Damn I miss Swilly, dude has to be a HoF'er

I'd nominate CDA as well, don't know if I've found any other poster as regularly humorous than him.

snap somehow posted to eGriz from two tin cans attached together in the middle of the boonies, so his ingenuity puts him on my list. And, he never took himself too seriously..

Ashley Schaeffer for obvious reasons. I feel like that choice takes up two slots on my list (I have never ran interweb DNA on him, but I am pretty sure I know who his father is)...

argh!, you may be right, five might not be enough. I say this as a non-voting junior member.

Was Ashley the used car salesman, Virginia Tech fan from Arkansas? Or some sort of weird combo like that. Lol

I second both CDA and 2002. I wish that dude would come back to the board.

Ursa Major has to get some votes. Snap.

Can't believe that my Lisa Loeb story didn't even get me a mention...

Yeah — and here I’m just being brutally honest — that thing was just too damn long and really could’ve benefited by going all Penthouse Letters somewhere in the middle.

Exhibit A:

snap is a lock in my eyes, it would be hard to dispute for anyone.

Now…I have to pose a question that will probably cause much banter and some hate and discontent:

Do we consider the posters who have been a huge part of eGriz but maybe not always loved or even tolerated…e.g. PR, Alpha, and the many faces of Growler? Or are these guys Pete Rosed even tho a bigger part of the site than 98% of us?

What say you?

PR is the Ty Cobb of this Hall of Fame (minus the overt racism)..

Alpha the Iron Sheik..

I am only auditing this thread though, so my vote doesn't count.

The UM2002 dude was by far the funniest poster I've ever seen on a sports board, period. Also, Zen Griz has to get some sort of recognition for literally doing his dot, dot, dot thing with every single post of all time. That is astounding.

IdaGriz01... somehow secured a spouse that watches all the games with him....I salute you.
I'd nominate my wife, except she refuses to open a username and join in the "banter." ;)

She is, BTW, the virtuoso of the DirecTV remote and recorder. I give her a list of upcoming games and she manages to track down broadcasts (or re-broadcasts) for a bunch of them. We always have a backlog of recorded games in case we're faced with a boring afternoon or evening. Even if we decide to watch a particular FCS game (or parts of it), she also records it. Then I/we can go back and view the game if it sounds exciting (or interesting). Definitely gives you a better perspective on the overall state of FCS football.

I'd nominate her too. I can't get my wife to focus on an entire game when we're IN the stadium. You got a good one.

lol. At least you can get her into the stadium. I bought season tickets for the first time this year (yes, traveling from San Antonio....) and my wife is coming up for exactly ONE game. Scat/Griz.

I must have gotten lucky with my wife. She's probably a bigger Griz fan than I am.

*Disclaimer: Only a bigger fan due to having gone to just about every single home game since she was born in the 80's. My first game wasn't until 2007. We're both just as rabid on the Griz.

Sounds good. But to claim the top honor, we need to hear of a delivery by the EMTs in the stands ... and she still follows the Griz. (Well, all right, I guess the parking lot would do.) Now that would be a FAN!

My wife cannot understand females who are not sports fans. Hell, we went to a basketball game for our first date. (We've since been at it for 54 years of marriage.) We became Griz fans in the early nineties, when our sister-in-law joined the UM faculty.
She wants me to add: Started collecting baseball cards in the fifties, and still has a foul ball from a game in Cleveland stadium around 1955-56.
