Could the Eag fan's say their defense has some gears they haven't shown yet also?

I haven't watched a single down EWU has played this year, and as such, I can say with confidence the answer is no.

Considering you guys are holding one half of football against our defense, I’d say yes…we held UNLV on the road to 20 in regulation and that was with a gift TD at the end. Central did nothing and we held SUU to 21 on the road…

WIU was a terrible 2nd half showing but it was also a case of taking your foot off the gas too early.

Our defense isnt good but it’s not nearly a bad as what the egriz fans think…

The first 7 combined drives in the WIU game resulted in TD’s. It was more than just “one half of one game”.
It was 28-21 after one quarter and you got outscore did 35-7 in the 2nd half. One could argue you really only played one QUARTER of defense.

Guilty as charged. EGriz fans think a defense that allows 56 to WIU when ours allowed 0 is pretty bad. Yeah, only one game but you've allowed everyone you've played to score and just outscored them.

You have posted a few times about how our offence has been "vanilla". What sorts of things do you think we were holding back for this game? I personally think that our offence is fine and all we will see is more of the same, but executed better.

I could see this game playing out like the Packer/Niner game Sunday night. Niners and Griz feel similar to me. Stout defenses, streaky QB with a young inexperienced backup on the bench and banged up at running back. Eagles have an explosive offense with an average defense at best. I could see the Griz getting down early but the defense keeping us within striking distance, a special teams play changes momentum. Hauck makes half time adjustments and last team with the ball wins.

What? I mean… what? Isn’t that the point of football?

Of course, but not the point of the discussion. That point that you dodge is that you've won games with your offense and your defensive performance against poor offenses is not good. You will see a better offense this week than you think and you will see the best defense and STs you'll see all year. Yes, we will see the best offense we've seen all year, but with D and ST excellence, I like our chances.

This is a rare occasion where we have common opponents to compare to. No comparison.

Griz record when scoring 30+ is phenomenal. I agree EWU is going to get points, but against a much less ferocious D in 2019 they (EWU) only scored 19. Granted, that one was in Wa/Griz, but the fact remains. And their D wasn’t NEARLY as atrocious as it is now.

I think we win this one in similar fashion….38-21 or 42-24, something along those lines. Point being, I believe we hold them under 30, and thus our odds of winning go waaaay up.

Lol, no way you keep ewu under 30. You keep hanging your hat on 2019, this game is going to be totally different. This ewu team is light years better than the 7-5 2019 team…

I could see eastern scoring 30, but you're out of your ever lovin' mind if you truly believe it couldn't happen. No doubt you would have never believed Montana could hold Udub to 7. And don't forget the way the GRIZ D manhandled a team to which the eags gave up 750 yards and 56 points. And for god's sake don't blame the second string or heatstroke or whatever, because the necks had more yardage against eastern 8 minutes into the game than they did the entire game against the GRIZ.

Your offense is excellent. Our defense is a cut above. When you throw our special teams advantages in, well...

At least eagfan is smart enough to realize "we will find out all we need to on Saturday". That's when Griz play EWU......not either of those Saturdays they played WIU.

Griz haven’t won on the red turf, Eastern hasn’t lost at home since 2017, and EB3 has never lost a home game…people can compare the WIU game all they want, playing EWU on the red turf is a tough challenge.

Most will disagree, but I think the Griz will have to play better overall to beat EWU than they did to beat UDub.
