b/w, while I do not really disagree with any of your keys for a griz victory, when you have that MANY it looks like a bad day for our griz.....when Lombardi was asked the keys to victory, he was quoted "which ever team blocks and tackles the best" I remain hopeful we do that... go griz !

:thumb:

haha - maybe I should add that one.

Last week my dad texted me a Lombardi quote during the NAU game, "What the hell is goin' on out there?!?!"

b/w,,,you made me laugh out loud there....times were simpler in your fathers and my day.....ha !

I trust the senior leadership on both sides of the ball(Kidder and Brady).
That will have to work a lot better than last week. Neither made the plays when they counted.

:thumb: Agreed, how they respond and perform is the key. JR and the DBs need to keep their composure also. UM has a high character team, looking forward to how they bounce back.

In 2008 the Griz had a very humbling beat down against Weber in the rain. The next week they had to hit the road and head to EWU. Fans assumed they were done, however the Griz put forth a masterful defensive effort and Chase Reynold started to emerge as the clear cut #1 and the Griz won 19-3. GO GRIZ!
This is the one I've ben thinking about all week. Of course we don't have an emerging Chase Reynolds and if we did I'm not sure he would be used much. Calhoun could be the guy but he needs more PT.

Everyone is talking about pinning our ears back and going after the QB. Very risky with Grubard's mobility, but we certainly can't just wait back and let him pick us apart. We need our DL to beat their men (didn't happen much last week) and the LBs showing the speed necessary to contain (and punish) when he takes off. Tough assignment for 4 quarters. With that passing attack EWU is so hard to contain late. Will need a gutsy performance and some positive help from the O that didn't come last week. The Griz need a quality win if they are to be taken seriously. Last chance before the playoffs.

Good chance if they lose they drop out of top 20. I know everyone thinks an 8-3 is a lock because of money, but 8-3 un-ranked, fourth in the conference, maybe? Seems to me better that this is treated as a must win as a loss puts the Griz as a bubble team.

There's no such thing as a "Top 20". There is a Top 25, and no, the Griz won't drop out of that with a loss to EWU. They'll still be ranked.

Yes you are correct. Let my fingers get ahead of my brain this morning. They will fall out of top 20 of 25 but still ranked. I just don't see them taking 4 teams from the sky and EWU, ND and CP all have a better case in that scenario

Let's play out the scenario though. If the Griz lose tomorrow, they probably land around 22. Then they win the next 3 games in a row to finish 8-3. There'll be more turmoil in the top 25 and the Griz will most likely move back into the 15 to 20 range for rankings. The playoffs will take 20 teams, obviously there's auto-bids and at large bids, but they'll presumably have a good argument. 8 D-1 wins, 3 game winning streak, obviously a nice payout for a first round home game.

Just looked at teams schedules, there's going to be a lot of losses that'll break apart the log-jam in the conference, I think I'll put up a new post on it.

24 teams.

UNI was in the Eagles backfield chasing Gooberude all day long. He made bad throws and bad decisions and was benched at halftime in favor of Hennesey. This game will be on the defense and how well they pressure the quarterback.

I agree, but that was true vs NAU too.

EVEN MORE TEAMS!

Yes you're right, my bad. Helps the argument even more.

Feels like the UNI game...no one thinks we have a chance (although I'd say we have a better chance in this one). Here's to hoping for a W but fully realizing another L may be coming our way.

I keep forgetting they expanded to 24. Just too many

Also, remember there are 3 teams in the Stats Top 25 poll that won't be making the playoffs regardless of their remaining games: #18 Coastal Carolina (ineligible due to FBS transition), #21 Grambling State (SWAC doesn't participate in playoffs), and #24 Harvard (Ivy League doesn't participate).

A running game would really help tomorrow. Sustain drives, move the chains, and score. Keep the Redbirds offense off the field. I'm not sure a shoot out is in our best interest. I'd love to see Yamen wake up and pound a few receivers.

Griz are gonna win in Cheney. Two reasons; first, the Griz must be a better team than the god awful unit we saw in Flagstaff, second, I am a fan and I emotionally believe my team is going to win.

Personally I think the start of the game is really important. Griz have to show the eags they are ready to win.

Go Griz!!

Maybe, but it's the second half when EWU has been nearly impossible to contain. They usually spot their opponents a lead (even MSU) then blow them away in the second half. Shutting them down at the start of the second half is the best message I could think of.

Kem, you are prolly right. I just figure EWU is an interesting place mentally. Their success has helped them believe in their skill, last years defeat provides anger and fire (motivation!). Changing that mental outlook early would be good.

The UNI Panthers are 3-4 and the Eagles are 6-1 at this time. Why do you think you have a better chance to beat the Eagles than the Panthers?

The Griz have a better shot to beat EWU than we did UNI because Montana very familiar with EWU. We know you guys better and know what to expect from you. UNI was more of an unkown as we have only played them 5 times prior to this year.

As for UNI's 3-4 record, it's severely misleading. 3 of the 4 losses were to top 25 teams and all 3 could have been wins which would have made them 6-1. So to downplay the Panther's because of their record is silly. Kind've like how some people downplayed NAU's record.

It won't hurt that Montana can drive to the game and the Griz will have as many fans in the stadium as the Eagles. UNI is half way across the country and puts 16,000 fans in the stadium. I believe UNI was ranked 2nd in the country at the time as well. They did beat you by 41 points last season correct?
