This is information you can get by looking at the Eagles website, I guess thanks for posting what we could have found on our own. Not sure what the big deal is

I put it in easy to read format so morons like you can find more time in your day.

You're welcome

At 39 seconds linebacker JP Konangata is burned trying to defend Wr Shaq Hill. It's a terrible mismatch that Gregorak has tried fix by transitioning to lighter, faster linebackers. But, it's still a mismatch that Big Sky teams with far less talent than Eastern have tried to exploit with some success this year.

Interesting. When I look at the BSC statistics, I see Montana in the #2 slot for YPG given up passing. Only 4 teams have lower completion percentages against...fewest # of passing TD's allowed, lowest YPC allowed in the conference...last year, we were 8th against the pass, giving up 50+ YPG more, over 60% completion percentage, twice as many TD passes, etc., etc.

not sure where the "exploit with some success" comes from. Seems to me like his "fix" is working pretty damned good.

To be fair, Sac State was the only legit pass-heavy offense we've faced so far. The D did a great job shutting them down (especially Carter), but this will be by far their biggest test in that regard.

We have a douchebag or three on our forum, too...

Nice job, Brint. If you're coming to the game, PM me. We have a great tailgate going and you and yours are welcome any time.

Thanks, appreciate it. I'm going to be in Nola until Tuesday so sadly I don't even think I'm going to get to see the game.

Great, you get to experience what us non-locals have to go through every week... You can follow the game on the ESPN app on your phone.

Here's what you need to know about Eastern and Montana.

At 34 seconds, play setup

At 39 seconds linebacker JP Konangata is burned trying to defend Wr Shaq Hill. It's a terrible mismatch that Gregorak has tried fix by transitioning to lighter, faster linebackers. But, it's still a mismatch that Big Sky teams with far less talent than Eastern have tried to exploit with some success this year.

Listen to the commentators throughout the highlight video. There’s always a Griz who almost reaches the QB, but not quite. That's not surprising. Count off the seconds before Adams throws the ball. Two seconds pretty much every time. Can you shed your blocker and get to the quarterback in less than two seconds? No. Can an Eastern wide receiver running into soft coverage get into open space in two seconds or less? Yes. Go back and pause the video at 35 seconds, look at the receivers. There’s two Wr. With four yards between themselves and the nearest defender, another two with at least two yards. They’re not trying to get open, they’re open, by design as Montana's bend-don't-break defense plays out, with Eastern receivers making their cuts uninterrupted and continuing up field.

Look at the secondary and how soft they are. The whole premise of the Griz defense is that QBs under pressure make mistakes. You rely on pressure from your defensive front and just keep the play in front of your secondary. Don't give up anything big. Eastern beats that shit every time.

Look at 1:43 Adams is ready to throw, the wr to his right is 4 yards away from the nearest defender – in two seconds and it isn't even his best target.

Read the Missoulian story about his weeks game. Read what EWU coach Beau Baldwin has to say about the Griz D. They’re very basic and that’s a compliment, he says. Yep. You know what the Griz are going to do. Know you have to get the ball off in under two to beat the pressure. Know you’re going to have receivers open within two seconds also. All you have to do is beat the pressure and find the open man. Bad teams struggle with that. The Eastern Washingtons of the world do not.

What’s different about this year’s defense and last year’s defense? Last year’s defense had two linebackers now playing in the NFL including one starting for the Seattle Seahawks.

While I certainly admire your effort to make some points and back those points up with game tape, I think you could have saved yourself the extra work. I would think that most Griz fans have those mismatches and
highlights permanently burned into their retinas so there is no need to replay them. For the Griz sake, two things are different this year. One, VA is hurt. Even if he plays, he'll have some rust to knock off.
I will be very surprised if he dominates like he did last year. Two, Eastern's D is horrible this year.UM's offensive is certainly no "well oiled machine" but can Eastern stop them? These two factors may be enough to overcome home field advantage, TG, Delaney and any play calling issues. We'll see.

The griz can win this game on the ground but simple dive plays to Canada aint gonna cut it. They could make it look easy if they stuck to zone-read plays but that aint happenin either.

Historically, Griz actually play great @ Wasthington's Grizzly stadium. The last few games were lost because of special teams. In '10, nygen fumbled two punts and a punt was blocked for a TD. In '12, the griz were an on side kick away from clinching. Not a great trend considering our special [needs] teams this year.

CV, I think even a rusty Vernon Adams can throw the ball in two seconds or less. He's going to be a handful regardless of whether he can scramble around.

You can watch all non-ROOT games for free on Big Sky TV...but I guess it's easier to just bitch than to put forth the effort for that.

Forte is a huge concern that is not being discussed. If CalPoly was able to have one guy run on this "great defense" I suspect EWU can match it. Both of the QBs at EWU are good. Cupp seems to have the best hands in the FCS....I think this is going to be a tough game for UM

Big Sky tv rarely works, alas.

I agree that he COULD be a handful but asking a dynamic run/pass QB like VA to knock off rust, put pressure on his ailing foot for four quarters and carry his team to victory is asking a lot. Especially with a weak D.
It's not beyond the realm of possibility but we'll just have to see. With a healthy VA, this is a 14 point win for EWU. I think the game is a toss up now....

Kick returners: If by some chance the kick off goes to Logwood expect nothing but some damn good yardage if not a TD. This kid (true frosh) can run smooth and will be a big surprise. Nguyen has been guilty of fumble (but has not been caught yet) and has little top end speed!

Tucker Schye and Connor Strahm will make some noise on special teams along with Eric Johnson. They all have been doing well on defending the kick-off. Perhaps a fumble and a recover?

Marq Rogers and Sean Haynes are two speedy tall receivers that are due. They should be allowed to run down field and take some pressure off Jones. If so we have some TDs. They should be matched up well as neither one has had great success up to now and I hope they sneak by these corners as they will be over looked!

Because I'm too lazy to read 200 posts in 10 different threads, has Baldwin said if Left-Eye is going to play?

Haha! I would also like to know before I post 200 times in said threads.

They only announce Lil' Shoota is a "Game Day Decision".
So bank on it, he will play unless they amputated that foot during the last week. :ugeek:

Coach Bo is a high stakes gambler so my guess is Vern plays. If he injures his foot again it is the end for him this season.

Watch for Coach Bo, to go for it on fourth down more than once today. I would tell old Delaney to be more than ready for some very tricky and sneaky plays from da eagles. Today is after all the time to use every trick in the book. My brain thinks we get fooled a time or two during the game!

Hey, Baldwin is a man of integrity. It was a game day decision.

The decision was made immediately after the NoNak game that Shoota would start the following week....
