Eastern Washington Eagles Scouting Report

So, if we see the 1st half vs NAU Griz, I think they’ll win 38-35.

Nice right up but I disagree with one thing. If we play a whole game like the first half of the NAU game, which we are fully capable of, it will be a blowout in Cheney. :twocents:

Some key EW players banged up. Griz win by 10+

I saw that, 3 of their 4 captains were hurt against WSU although they're expecting a few others who have been hurt (Herd) to be back.

Edwards is probably a no go at WR, but the other two captains are questionable but I bet they play. Herd played last week (limited) against Weber.

No way Griz win by 10+....

Looking forward to seeing a lot of you on Saturday, win or lose, both of these teams always put on a Great game when they play each other...

I like the Griz run game against your DL. Expect a full dose this week. The only fumble Dan Moore has is putting the ball down in the End Zone after his 3rd TD.

Maybe...but 3 td's won't win this game...

To be honest, not really worried about Moore, more worried about TM. Ya he is young and turns it over, but he is the type of player that we struggled to stop last year. A quick QB that can run, all 5 teams we lost to last year had similar QB's.

But...TM is going to have to play his best game for the Griz to have a chance, I don't care how good Moore or your backs are. Teams are going to make the Griz throw it this year by stacking the box and making TM throw it downfield, until he proves he can the Griz will struggle. I think he will begin to play well, just not on Saturday.

Our offense is going to play better then they have all year, we will put points on the board. Question is, can the Griz keep up, especially if they get behind???

We're 3rd in the BSC against the run, allowing only 107 ypg.

We'll see where you are after this week :) If the Griz are smart and stick with it they will run a ton. Keep the game close in the first half and then use their big OL to wear down your D in the second half. They have the OL and RB's that can do that. That will make it so much easier on Mckinney too.

However, EW gets up early and the Griz play catch up then it could be a completely different game. The first quarter and a half is going to be very key in this game.

If they weren't able to wear down and dominate the NAU front 7... I don't think they'll be able to do is against EWU - EWU is better up front than NAU. However, it all comes back to controlling the football. If you can control the game and keep their D on the field that would be your best chance at the upset.

Thing is we dominated them for half(ish) of a game, just two different tones. I agree though controlling the LOS for our defense will be more difficult this year, EWU's OL is very experienced.

I think they can. They need to get back to that quick paced no huddle offense and use that HUGE OL to their advantage (less subbing by the D).

The offense needs to move the chains and keep the defense off the field. The offensive line needs to come in with attitude and move some people. Win the field position battle and keep the play in front of us. We can do this. We did a good job last week in the 1st half but the coaches failed to make any adjustments at half and seemed unable to make on the field adjustments as the second half progressed. Sorry but I have no problem pulling TM for a series or two if he gets rattled. Come on Hermy whack someone it'll feel good.......Goodwin all the way at corner! If the ewu stud qb doesn't like Montana then lets give him reason not to. We need some fing attitude and it starts in the trenches! Blocking and tackling and blocking and tackling and............. Lets get er done!!
Go Griz!!

the oline needs to show up in a big ass way not the flimsy play they displayed in the second half last week...not giving trent the protection he needed to run and pass and the holes for peter and canada to run.....dan can do it almost on his own the others can't.

hermy has completely fallen off from last year when he was a rising star...........agree goodwin could excel in this game now that he is getting more playing time.

brint mentioned better play calling......amen and the defense needs to blitz more and show them a few different looks otherwise it is boring for fans can you imagine what it is like for the players?
