Eagles continue to tinker with new defense

Sounds like a desperate attempt at fixing something that's been broken for a long time. They don't have the personnel to match the other strong defenses in the big sky. Instead of giving up the yards through the air, they'll be giving them up on the ground. "Tinkering" is not a solution. Look for more of the same next year from them.

The good thing is that the Griz now have a coach that is going to actively exploit defensive weaknesses. So if EWU's defense focuses on the pass and is susceptible to the run, I hope to see Stitt take full advantage of that.

Eastern's D needed an adjustment, a new D Coordinator and a new scheme should help because they can't get much worse.

Eastern has actually struggled much more against the run than the pass in the past few years. Teams who run the spread option with a mobile QB have crushed us. Eastern's D rarely brought pressure in years past and that appears it will change as well.

Will be interesting to see how this goes...

Thanks for input Marc. Nice to know an EWU fan can be openly honest about how bad that defense has gotten. I hate to agree with you, but you are right, that defense cannot get worse.

Rocklobster, you are right that EWU does not have the personnel to match up the conferences strong defenses. However, keep in mind the only teams in the conference with solid or better defenses last season are Montana and UND. So EWU really does not have many defenses to even be average in the conference.

I feel EWU is doing the right thing by getting new leadership and going in a new direction on defense. Just like the GRIZ are doing the right thing in offense. It should be an interesting season this coming season

I'm really worried about the EAGS this year. Keeps me awake at night.

If you're an Ewoo grad, I'm guessing it's your pager that keeps you awake at night. Those fixes don't run on an 8 to 5 clock....
