Eagle Envy

OK, Eastern does have it rolling the past few years but Baldwin will move on and things will eventually get back to normal with Griz domination. And as good as the Eags are right now, they are 1-2 in home semifinal games. Griz fans would be up pretty upset with that percentage.

Eagles dislike does not equal Eagles envy. Rooting for a rival is like hoping your enemy wins the lottery. So by your rationale many Griz fans also have Bobcat envy.

Yeah right, we are all envious of that sweet red field and losing on it in two straight semifinals. The only real envy I have at the FCS level is that of the Bison so I would have rooted for the Eagles had they beaten Towson.

Seems like you have way more in common with Eagles than just where you live and for that I envy you so much.

Hey did you guys hear that eGals beat Oregon St?

Yeah that team that lost their last 6 games of the season..........wow. :jack:

Griz beat Oregon St too, most people do.

I agree, no envy for eGals from Griznation, I doubt any eGrizzer has envy...

I'm not sure if many Griz fans are envious of EWU, but you do have to recognize them as the class of our conference so far this decade. They have become a good rival and have been an asset for the BSC. We needed someone to step up into that role.

I prefer my sample sets a little larger.

Yes, 3 of 4 years from the decade beginning in 2010 isn't saying that much. However, they have provided argument to the notion that Montana is the only team in the league, which is good for the league.

Ironically, your wife mentioned the same thing AZ...

Eagle eagle eagle. They did get some top notch players. The Adams, Cooper etc. type of players make them very good. They should have won yesterday but have an amazing poor play calling coach and a very sad defensive coach.

Bo Is a good young coach but yesterdays botched up end of the game...........No envey in my corner. I do wish they would have won but that loss was dumb cubed!

Yes, and it still stings!

Actually 1-3 in home semi-final games.

1997 - Loss to Youngstown State
2010 - Win against Vanilla
2012 - Loss to SHSU
2013 - Loss to Towson

It's obvious that EWU hasn't won a semifinal game on the road since their only National Championship appearance came in 2010, but I'm curious about how many times the Eagles have had to play in a semifinal game on the road?

Zero

Since moving to the FCS, those are the only 4 semifinal games EWU has played. Not a whole lot of success before 2004, except for the '97 season.

Hoping EWU hosts another one next year....

That 2010 game was sweet.

A stronger conference is good for the SOS of each team. It would be better for the conference if more teams became better so we are considered the Big Tuffy rather than the Big Fluffy.(cute huh  ).
To hope Eastern get worse seems counterproductive

Envy is the wrong word. I think you're thinking of jealous, that were jealous of eagles success... I'm not so sure that's also untrue. That's another argument and I guarantee the majority of griz fans aren't envious of the eagles as their school and program honestly are horrible with the exception of these last couple years. I mean honestly I started watching griz football in 05 and I would take our last 8 years over theirs in a heartbeat.

I mean... Even their national championship is tainted as that game was absolutely ridiculous.

2013: 12-3 (Semi's) Outright Conference Championship
2012: 11-3 (Semi's) Conference Co-Championship
2011: 6-5
2010: 13-2 (NC) Conference Co-Championship
2009: 8-4 (1st Round)
2008: 6-5
2007: 9-4 (2nd Round)
2006: 3-8
2005: 7-5 (1st Round) Conference Co-Championship
2004: 9-4 2nd Round) Conference Co-Championship

I guess it depends on how you define "horrible". In the last decade, Eastern has 5 Conference Championships, 7 playoff appearances, 5 National Player of the Year Awards, and a National Championship. Outside of the Griz, Eastern has by far been the most successful Big Sky program of the last 20 years, and nobody else is really close.

I believe s/he said, "school and program." Adjust for school. ;)
