According to the Billings Gazette, she has committed to playing for the Lady Griz. At 6'1" she can play inside, go outside, and really handle the ball. Definitely the top senior class prospect in the state and one of the overall top prospects for all grades in the state along with Tilleman, Hurley, and Tinkle. Ironically, despite having a monster year and divisional tournament, Dvera's Hardin team failed to advance to the state tournament which could also be the case for Tinkle if Big Sky doesn't beat Flathead at Kalispell in their playoff game this week.

Hardin had the misfortune to play a Glendive team who has gotten on a roll. Glendive has only one senior this year and is mainly a frosh and soph. team. Dvera play 2 great games at divisionals against them but it wasn't enough.

I'm guessing Rob only has 2 scholarships to give this year. Does anyone know for sure if that is correct?

No, three scholarships. Selvig already had 2 signees in the november signing period. Now add Tolbert.

The three players being replaced are:

Michela Schmitz who transfered.
Sara Gale and Jackie Deschaser who are graduating.

If you check the roster there are only 14 players. Lady Griz can have 15 players under scholarship.

Tolbert commits to Lady Griz
By Gazette News Services

HARDIN - Dvera Tolbert, the all-time leading scorer and rebounder in Hardin girls basketball history, has given a verbal commitment to play basketball at the University of Montana, Hardin athletic director Duane Walker announced Wednesday.

The 6-foot-1 Tolbert earned Eastern A all-conference and Class A all-state honors each of her first three years at Hardin.

She averaged 27 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and 3 steals per game in her senior season, which ended Saturday in the Eastern A tournament. For her career, Tolbert finished with 1,692 points and averages of 19.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game, as well as a .562 field-goal percentage.

"Dvera is the best high school basketball player I've ever been around, and I think she'll only get better at the next level," said Hardin coach Linda McClanahan. "She's a hard worker, a good student and a great person. "I'm very proud of Dvera for what she has accomplished and excited to see what's ahead for her."

Tolbert is the third high school player to verbally commit to the Lady Griz this winter. The others are Sarah Ena, a 5-11 forward from Kenmore, Wash., and Misty Atkinson, a 5-10 guard/forward from Clarkston, Wash.

Carly Selvig starts as a freshman for glendive she is dereks sister and scored 15 points against tolbert in the divisional consolation game. the glendive team just won their first game in divisionals against bigfork. they play tonight at 8 in belgrade against livingston.

quite remarkable the women's talent that a state the size of montana has produced over the past 20 years. what's nice about this signing is that we'll get to see two of the best--morales and tolbert--play together on the same team, possibly for two years.

You really have to feel bad for the Anaconda basketball teams. They have fielded some of the best teams in the state but have failed to win a state championship. Even when Wayne Estes played back in the 60's they were unable to come away with a state championship. And I thought the last two years the Copperheads had the best girls team in the state, but seems to get upset in the last two state tourneys.

Thanks. I forgot about Michela.
