Duke Loses to Unranked Team

florida state is a better team than people think. and they always play duke tough for some reason. last night was their 3rd win over duke at home in their last 4 tries. fsu is definitely in the dance. alst time they made it was 98 and they were 6-10 in the acc! people know that the acc is the best in the country, and even if you dont have a winning record there, you are still probably a good enough team to play in the dance. i say they are an 10 or 11 seed.

Big East is the better conference IMO, they are getting 8 or 9 teams in the tourney. Big 10 is better than the ACC

ya, this year those conferences were better than than the acc as was the big-12 last year. but as a whole, year in and year out the acc is always very tough. and the guys see this, and that's whay you will see teams with losing conference records from these conferences in the dance. and if the big east gets 9 teams in, which i think is pushing it, 4 of them could potentailly have a losing record in conference play. but if there is eevn talk about the syracuses, and louisvilles getting in af they make a push, that shows you how tough that conference is. and the wcc is no where these.

I never argued that the ACC isnt good year and year out this year I believe that the Big East is the better conference. Outside of South Florida, that conference is 15 deep. I realize they have more teams than the ACC but that doesnt mean much because you still have to win games to get into the tournament.

Having more teams in the conference makes it even more difficult. Teams dont have the opportunity to plays teams at home and away in the Big East like they do in alot of other conferences. So if a team beats you on the road you may not get a chance to play them again until the conference tournament or the next year.

Dont get me wrong tho, the ACC is an amazing conference. Duke is the best team in the nation. They have the best inside outside combination along with the best freshman tandom (sp?) in the country. I cant wait till next week :dance:

I agree with you swilly. This year the Big East is a better conference than is the acc. I'm not sure if the Big Ten is at this point, but it is arguable. I know it's been a long time since the acc/big ten challenge, but I know the acc teams have improved tremendously. I'm not convinced that Illinois, or Mich St are a whole lot better than early in the year, but I don't follow big ten like I do acc. I know that UNC, BC have improved a lot over the course of the season. Duke is the man right now, (unfortunately since i'm a unc fan) and NC State has really not shown a lot of improvement. March is upon us, so let there be madness!
