Driving down memory lane

Watching Keali’i Ah Yat and the Griz struggle but still get the win on the road against a capable but lesser opponent brought back memories of a game in 1976, a year in which Montana went undefeated before losing to Randy Moss in the National Championship Game. On October 19, 1996, the Griz traveled to Cheney to take on Mike Kramer’s Eastern Washington Eagles. Brian Ah Yat threw for 560 yards (32 for 48 with 2picks) and 4 touchdowns (all to Joe Douglass). Griz had only 70 rushing yards in the game. Douglass scored a late touchdown to pull out a 34-30 4th quarter come from behind win. Lousy field conditions. Great seats on the 50 yard line before EWU stopped allowing Griz Fans in their season ticket sections. Great seasons always have obstacles. Let’s hope for a similar season with a win to end it all. But the Griz need to improve every game in order to do so. Let’s go!

I, too, sometimes go down memory lane and think about the 1996 and the 1969 teams. Hopefully, there will be a different ending in 2025.
