Dowler twins to MSU

Just read that online. Bummer. I was really thinking Taco would be a great slot for the Griz in the coming years.

no way would Bobby agree to take a brother to get the one he really wants, especially with the success he has had getting transfers as of late. In state kids are great...but the defense everyone is so happy with only has 3 in state starters (offense also had 3). The transfer rules have changed the game for FCS teams

So true. I think the new transfer rules hurts FBS more to the benefit of FCS. We can get some high quality players that maybe we once wouldn’t get off the depth charts of P5 schools. Kids who want to play, are talented, but riding pine behind someone more talented. Sure we might lose a Toure now and then , but I think more often than not we end up on the winning side of the equation with the new rules.

So let me see if I got this strait from reading this thread (my rankings are based off of VIMs rankings, someone whom we all seam to agree knows his stuff...)

The #1 and #3 ranked players in the State of Montana this year Verbally Commit to MSU and now

1)#1 ranked player Isn't good enough to start over who you have already, so it isn't a loss

2) No Way the griz would offer the #3 ranked player in the State, just to also get the #1 player in the State (even though it seems as if the #1 player wasn't going to the griz regardless)

3) In-State recruits aren't as important because you can get FBS drop downs that are great.

You left out one:

4) The bobcats suck. :thumb:

No one said it wasn't a loss and I have no idea who he'd have to beat out an who he wouldn't.

Nobody said the Griz didn't want Caden, they just didn't offer him anything apparently, and if you say Taco wasn't going to UM anyway, what does it matter?

3) In-State recruits aren't as important because you can get FBS drop downs that are great.
Too vague of a statement. Depends on the player/position/year, etc.

Go ahead and check the thread About how instate players are the key ingredient to Griz success.

I wasn't talking about that thread... I was talking about this one.

EDIT... I just read that thread. Seems as it isn't Montana kids at all. It is FBS transfers. Most said that there aren't many key In-state kids that are saucing right now. instead the coaches are simmering them on a back burner...

Taco Dowler is a phenomenal player and one of the top recruits in the state. I think Crews and Huot both would have something to say about whether he is the top recruit or not. Of course the Griz wanted him.

It’s interesting to me that they weren’t as willing to go after his brother. Would that have made a difference to possibly get them both here I don’t know if we will ever know. I will trust the coaches over us fans when it comes to their recruitment of players and their individual needs as someone said we are pretty stacked and young at safety already.

I also find it somewhat interesting that the only other offers they had together were Northern Colorado. I’ve watched them play and would’ve thought they’d have more offers personally. I was surprised Vim had Caden in his top three.

That is cool they get to play together and we will know more in a few years I guess.

It has and always will be the key to success having Montana kids on the roster. Our 3 linebackers are very crucial to the D all homegrown. In state kids keep the interest of the fans across Montana and have always been crucial pieces to every team.
Of course the Dowler boys would have been huge gets, congrats on landing them.

I look forward to seeing how the bobcats do after they finish their Pioneer portion of their schedule.
Your 10 Fbs transfers will probably play a role in your success.

Thank you for the well wishes, and yes we are very exited to have both the Dowler kids verbaling to the Cats . We will see how the next game goes at home for the Cats. I hope that our FBS transfers do well, as I hope all our players play well and get another victory at home.

Agree with all these things... I haven't seen Caden play this year, as he was injured in the game I called, but for watching them both last year, they are both very special athletes in different ways. They both play with a swagger that a LOT of kids coming out of West have. They just play like they know in their heart that they are better than you are, and yet they also feel that they are being disrespected, and need to prove it.

Can we please ban together as Griz and cat fans and never allow a kid from Montana end up in Greeley Colorado.

You think it is weird that we have a better current player at the same position as the #1 high school recruit in Montana? I'm sure Montana will always recruit the best players it can possibly get. Quarterbacks included. :thumb:

No, I thinks it's weird that someone would look at that as a reason not to recruit and sign the #1 High School recruit in Montana...

You can only recruit so many and should fill needed positions.
