double surprise!

Wow, I did find a pleasant surprise listed, and hope it is true. Yes it is regarding Selvig too. They have him listed as 250 lbs! That is bigger than Qvale. I hope that is muscle mass, and he is in shape for the better. I think he 25 to 30 lbs heavier than last year. The extra weight is a good sign for our inside game, which is something I have questioned since Strait graduating.

It looks by the roster there will not be any redshirts this year. I really question our depth at pf/center. Qvale, Selvig, Hutchison, and Ward are it. I do not see Ward as ever being able to play center, if there were an injury. I would have liked to seen one more 6'9" banger to fill in. Then again, if depth gets bad we can always call Beaudin to be a banger.

It really looks like to me our season hinges on the health and effectiveness of our bigs this year. I am not really concerned about our guards and SF. I like what Tinkle has assembled in talent and depth there.

I talked to Selvig at the Roundball auction. He said he's busy rehabbing the foot and had been running for just a couple of weeks. While that sounded positive, it does seem awfully close to the season and that the strss fracture problem isn't going away easily.

Any Doctors, or anyone with medical knowledge that can elaborate on Selvig's injury would be appreciated. Is this an injury that one can recover close to 100% from? If so, how long does it take typically to recover fully? What kind of training is necessary? Is this a kind of injury that never allows the injured to show their true playing ability and reach their potential?

This really has me worried now. I was concerned about our bigs before this, but if this injury is still lingering, it really upsets me we did not recruit another big for this year. I do not want to see a very undersized McGillis relive his HS days and play inside so often by playing PF, or Ward play center when Qvale needs a spell.

Without being a smartass . I'm wondering what's going to change this year to improve the offensive presence in the paint?
