Double Documentary Project

So I’ve decided to now make an awesome double documentary to really capture the fullness and essence of the pre season National Champs season.

Initially it was just going to be the “Meltdown in Missoula” but after yesterday I’d be remiss not to also include part 2, “The Block in Bozangeles”

I’m still waiting to hear back from these key fans for one on one interviews that will really bring the documentaries to life:

Butte5518
BigSky33
Poorgriz
41>37
Bearspray
Flycastingcat
Uptop
Biggamebobby
Catsrback

I have thousands of $ for each of these cool cats for their incredible contribution to this important project, but it’s like they’ve literally disappeared from the earth. So strange!

I don’t think you’ll hear from them for a while. Perhaps next year at the beginning of football season, when they once again proclaim their dominance of the football world! Oh, the irony, they’re all hibernating.

I only quibble with what you mean by “at the beginning of next season.” I always considered Cliff Hysell the greatest pre-season coach of all time because of his predictions about how the coming season was going to turn out for the Pity Kitties. Now “at the beginning of the season” makes me think of once actual play has begun and of course that’s when Coach Hysell became much less great. So you see how important the distinction is: I have no doubt in their proclamations of dominance pre-season. Of course it takes awhile for the fans who are true believers to realize they have been lied to by the coach, so there is room to argue that the pre-season hype carries over to the “beginning of the season.”

In the '97 Griz-scat game in Bozo, Hysell was damn near there, with 22 seconds left and a razor thin lead. What could possibly go wrong? Groshell + Ah Yat = Griz victory. You could see the life drain out of Hysell. Now, Ah Yat appears again, and the scats still don't have a kicking game. Karma.

Over on scatnation they’re already in rare form. Already proclaiming themselves 2024 preseason national champs. You can’t make this s**t up. Here’s what one of their posters said today

Prodigal Cat - - “Going into this season I felt like Cats had a shot at the title. I felt they could definitely win it all but I also felt 2024 is really the year where they should put it all together. Grebe, Valdez, Ortt, Mellott, Woodard will be seniors, returning nearly all the secondary and Oline. The schedule is significantly easier with Sac, Idaho, gris coming to Bozeman. Finally, the road blocks like SDSU and NDSU are extremely senior laden and will be dramatically different teams. We shall see what the next month holds but if they don’t get to at least the semis next year it will be catastrophic. 11-1 or 12-0 is very doable.”

I want to comment on my game day experience. I was able to secure a room at edgewater for saturday night. Had dinner for 3 : $80 total cost $342. It was the first game I have attended all year. 4 tickets: $140.00. What was most noticed is the way the town shuts down so early. The edgewater bar was unable to broadcast the cat game, and closed at 11; an after game meal? Unavailable; ox closed at 10... when i asked locals for an.explanation was told: "nobody wants to work anymore"

* Nobody wants to work for the pay those places are offering because they wouldn't be able to afford to live in Missoula. It can also be argued that business aren't able to pay folks more because of how expensive it is for businesses in Missoula as well.

The whole "nobody wants to work" is just the tip of the ice berg. In fact, the unemployment rate reported from October for the state of Montana is 2.8%....so most folks are working. ref link: https://www.bls.gov/eag/eag.mt.htm

Great points. I've tried to explain this to my parents. They are currently opposed to more affordable housing expansion near where they live (not Section 8, just income-capped). 100s of acres of farmland with 4 bed 3.5 bath cookie cutters going up almost daily that will probably list from 750k to a million-ish. They are concerned about proposed multi-family units "ruining the area" as they are in line at Starbucks or wandering aisles at Albertsons and they can't seem to see the connection.

The "nobody wants to work" thing isn't unique to Missoula. And the unemployment rate only tracks those ACTIVELY seeking employment. Millions have exited the workforce, or found side hustles that pay the bills...

Don't really want to get too lost in non-football stuff here, but coincidentally, a lot of those millions that exited the workforce through retirement during the pandemic have come back now that they can't afford retirement anymore. Here's a good summary:

Edit: Woof, apologies for the massive image lol

The wild thing is if you get them all in the same room at the same time, I bet only 3-4 people would be there. Add in FUDude, and nobody else shows up.
