Don’t Look Now, Dante Olson at 133 Tackles

I thought about bumping the previous Dante Olson tackles thread, but decided the topic deserved a title update.

Olson has now moved up to a tie for second in tackles per game … and tied for the most tackles overall, 133. The other guy plays for Presbyterian. Those two are second in all of Division I for total number of tackles. The top guy, with an amazing 151, plays for Cal.

Every draft projection board I visited had Dante as a lock for late-round (5-6) pick. Some felt he might be better off as an undrafted free agent, where he could actually have more leverage.

So he's underperforming relative to last year....unless he gets 16 in the 'Scat game.

Which, given their propensity to run the ball, is highly likely.

Boy, good odds on the over/under at 16 for #33. I think the beast gets it Saturday.

The Griz will score so early, so often, and so quickly that Cal St - Northern will get dozens of chances. Since they can't throw vertically, laterally, or better than Peggy Lee, they will have to run. Dante better get his 16 tackles before half time because after that its Marcus Welnell (stud in waiting), Marcus Welby, and then a random Griz fan picked out of the nearly empty bleachers, first drive of the fourth quarter.

Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Dante have 151 last season?

Still like his odds of breaking that number, for real. 20 tackles for this kid against an offense like the Cats...

Either way, it’s not gonna be enough for BSC POY honors. Gotta go big for that. Something like:

29 tackles and 6.5 TFL.

He's already got honorable mention sewn up!

I do believe the kid got 18 tackles yesterday.
Must have. According to the latest NCAA stats, updated for yesterday's games, Olson has the most tackles (151) in all of FCS. In tackles per game, he’s slightly slightly behind the guy from Presbyterian who has played only 11 games.

Olson also has the second-most tackles in all of Division I.
