Does Cole Grossman return?

So I believe if Cole applies, he should get another year of eligibility. The rule is you get 5 years to play 4 seasons. Greyshirt and missed seasons due to medical reasons due not count against eligibility. A Miami TE just finished his 9th season in college due to missing so much time to injury’s. Here’s a breakdown of Cole’s seasons.

2018-Greyshirt, does not count against eligibility.
2019-Fr, played in one game but was healthy all year. Redshirted.
2020-Covid year, does not count against eligibility.
2021-RSFr, played in 13 games.
2022-RSSo, played in 13 games.
2023-RSJr, missed entire season to injury.
2024-RSSr, played in 3 regular season games and 2 post season games, which should not count against his eligibility.

Honestly, by the standards the NCAA is setting by allowing multiple extra years due to injury, and the rule of 5 to play 4, Cole should have 2 more years of eligibility if he wants, with only playing 2 full seasons in ‘21 and ‘22.

If you count Raccanelli who I believe has to apply for another year also, we have 6 WR/TE’s returning not counting Cole that have at least one reception for the Griz. They have a combined 63 receptions for 733 yards and 5 TD’s. You take out Raccanelli’s numbers and the stat line is 23r/194y/2t. We need all the experience we can get.

He was recognized on senior day as a graduating senior, that probably tells me he’s moving on. Considering all of the ups and downs he’s been through here, even if he did have eligibility left, I wouldn’t be surprised if he just opted to go somewhere else for a fresh start.
yea maybe somewhere that actually passed to TE's

I get it if he’s ready to move on. Dudes 3-4 years older than most college seniors, has barely played in the last 2 years, and earned his degree in ‘23. Good on him, he was a stud and would be a huge bonus to return.

I don’t get everyone ready to move on from him. Y’all talking about us not utilizing a TE. That’s cus we haven’t had Cole Grossman the last 2 years. In ‘21 and ‘22 Cole caught a combined 70 receptions for 900 yards and 10 TD’s. All our TE’s combined in ‘23 and ‘24 caught 36 receptions for 300 yards and 7 TD’s. That’s twice as many receptions and 3 times the yardage for Cole. A good many of his plays, he's able to line up in the slot creating massive mismatches that none of our other TE’s can utilize. Some of you sound like your eager to see him go to make room for our next great TE who is…..

Why would this year not count? Yes, he only played 3 regular season games, but already used his Rs in 2019 and his medical last season...unless you're saying if he does appeal and it does get granted to use another medical red shirt for this season?

No one is eager to see him go...drama queen.

We haven't even seen him in a very long time.

Good grief.

Yes, I’m saying if, which from what others have posted, there won’t be an if. I’m basing his opportunity for another season from the Miami TE who is wrapping up his 9th season of college ball, starting back in ‘16 at Oregon. He was forced to sit out ‘18, ‘19, and ‘21 for medical reasons after redshirting in ‘16.

You’re reaching on your insult there. You’re gonna have to do better than name calling. Gotgame seems pretty eager. Says who cares if he stays and he never seen what was so special about him anyway despite Cole being a Fr All American and a So All American before injuries derailed his career. Seems to think he was never utilized despite him averaging 35 receptions a year or the same amount of all our TE’s combined over the last two years.

I don't reach.

Pearl clutching and wrining hands is a past time here...I choose not to join. Seems you are leading a small group.

Truth ref CG is self evident.

I don’t know what this means. Insults don’t work well if the insulted doesn’t understand the insult. Definitely wasn’t “wringing hands”. Just wanted to know if people thought Cole would try to play another year since he’d most likely get a waiver if he applied, probably two more years. Guess I wasn’t prepared for the “what have you done for me lately” response.

I don’t see any pearl clutching or hand wringing, just a small mind unable to respond with anything of substance.
