Does an O-Line Coach Teach the Center - ?

I’m sure they have been “taught” it isn’t like differential calculus, BUT doing it in a game falls on the player (assuming they have had enough practice to assure the mechanics are there to do it). If they can’t in practice reps then that seems to be a person that shouldn’t be playing center. Now longsnapping that’s an entire different skill.

I never really looked at who was the center during games, but we always joked that we knew when Botner was in the game because of all of the high snaps. Frustrating for sure, makes me wonder if there were ever any plays that it had a big impact on (ie Jet Sweep or something where the high snap threw off the timing of the pitch/handoff)

We’ve had dicey snaps for years now, regardless of the OL coach. Must not be the position coach that’s the reason.

Can you imagine how well Gillman would be running if the snaps were on time? That’s a whole other half second that he’d be building momentum with the ball in his hands.

I would assume it's the o-line coaches responsibility to help draft a center and then is it Hauck's to decide who plays the position ? Maybe why Hauck was not happy when asked about rotating centers? I would think if you were an o-line coach you would be allowed to make the decision who plays? The current o-line coach said he does not like to rotate positions much during the game and so that decision must have been on Hauck who plays ? Explains why we lost the quality young o-line coach last year and Hauck hired a yes guy.

Can you imagine how many yards he would have in MSU's offense, running behind that line?

Botner every time.

Bobby rotated centers to reach an incentive clause.

You are always wrong, just very anxious to blame Hauck for everything. It is the job of OL coach and OC to determine who plays on the OL. Claiming it's Hauck shows your stupidity and bias.

prove who made the call - I say I am correct as I always am and you should have learned that by now. Another thing you ARE wrong about is me blaming Bobby for everything. But the true is the blame does start at the top as he is the head coach .

Regardless the buck stops with Bobby. And the play at center this year was unacceptable for any team with championship aspirations

What is there to teach about snapping the ball 5 yards? The majority of what the Oline coach should be teaching is blocking scheme. The center is the quarterback of the offensive line in that he is supposed to read the defense and adjust blocking schemes and protections for the whole offensive line before the snap. As far as the snap itself that is something that should be practiced with repetition and possibly a snapping specific coach in the offseason not the Oline coach in the middle of the season.

Would it be Bobby as he is a special teams coach therefor a specialist ?
