Do you think maybe Baylor's Brittney Griner might...

...possibly have XY chromosomes? Having seen -and heard - the 6'8" super star I'm beginning to wonder...hmmm...

My wife, who could care less about most sports, definitely thought she was a man when she saw/heard him/her last night.

I had never heard her talk until today, and yes, her voice is deeper than mine. Also noticed she does not need to wear a sports bra. Any tests been run?

I imagine this girl will face incredible insults, if she hasn't already. She is a woman basketball player who, because of the game, has found a nice place for herself. What the world thinks is of little difference. She is the greatest player of the year. Too bad she is at Baylor. She is not feminine. So what?

Leave it to a snarky Cali progressive to turn valid speculation into pejorative PC blather...Fact:
there is a genetic disorder called androgen insensitivity syndrome in which a woman carries the male XY chromosomes. AIS carriers exhibit normal exterior traits, but lack a woman's internal genitalia - and possibly relevant to Ms Griner - they have noticably longer limbs! Is this fiction? Hardly. There is a very attractive and talented woman living in Missoula who has spoken out publically about her own life with AIS.

Hopefully Ms Griner will not have to run the medical inquiry gauntlet that a South American runner displaying AIS symptoms was subjected to decades ago when she sought to qualify for the Summer Olympics..."Incredible insults" indeed.

Actually the athlete you are referring to is Caster Semenya, a South African middle distance runner (800 meters) and the dust up over her gender was a few years ago. :thumb:

I agree with her coach's view, but I'm glad Brittney is a strong enough person to ignore such crap:

DENVER (AP) — Baylor coach Kim Mulkey says she's disgusted by taunting and insults directed at star player Brittney Griner on social media.

The 6-foot-8 AP player of the year is the subject of constant criticism on Twitter and other sites and Mulkey said during her press conference Monday that she's had enough of it.

"I made a commitment my fourth year at Baylor that I'll never read a message board, I don't want to see any of that garbage. I don't want to hear about it, because it's just not right. It's not healthy," Mulkey said. "This is someone's child. This is a human being. She didn't wake up and say make me look like this, make me 6-foot-8 and have the ability to dunk. This child is as precious as they come. ... The stuff she's had to read about, the stuff she's had to hear, the stuff people say about her, the stuff people write about her, it's got to stop. That stuff's got to stop."

While the barrage of negative comments annoys Mulkey, Griner seems to brush them aside, not letting them get under her skin.

"I'll go and search my name on Twitter, to see some of the things they say. They (school officials) tell me I shouldn't read the blogs: They're mean. But it doesn't bother me," Griner said.

Cali guy... Your preoccupation with labeling someone's honest non-judgemental speculation as hateful tells me you're up to your neck in a far bigger agenda... you're either flat-out deceitful or nuts...or both...

What an effort you people on the right must make to start and end every day with your hateful comments about another human being, especially one you don't know. My only agenda is to the Golden Rule...if you think your post was not hateful, that is even worse. I am neither deceitful nor nuts...just mature enough to not label any but the most hateful people here for what they are..ugly.What this woman is or is not is none of your business. Simple as that.

the "right" is not the only ones who hate you. Lots of hate to go around.

Besides, the opposite of right is wrong.

"Everything is my business, including my own." - Carl Norwood; quoted form the novel East West, written by a Talbot Mundy and published in 1937. Reminiscent of the 1785 publication of The Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals. The autonomy of the will contingent on the recognition of the "Kingdom of the ends." Treating people as an end in and for themselves in place of but being a means for someone else's exploitation. A recognition of "civil liberties" that was at least vouchsafed over a couple thousand years ago; that's what's simple.

And to think one out of every five individuals in CONUS has a college degree; no wonder that during the Reagan Administration the policies were more in adherence to the..."dumb American Public."

Also note that it has also been proffered that the world's greatest evil has been recognized as that of ignoring pleas of justice and mercy by the suppliants. Something to do with the typical calloused demeanor of the typical American in today's world; like they've been for the past fifty or sixty years or so.

Now that is a coach that has earned my respect, with her statement. Good for her, that exemplifies a trait I wish every coach at every level had. Well said too. Tell you what, if I had a daughter being recruited for div 1 basketball, something like that just put Baylor "high" on the list for programs to consider. As a High School, and/or, AAU coach, again Baylor would be in the running for any of the girls being recruited. I wonder how many girls, families, and coaches just elevated Baylor on their lists?

As is, coach Mulkey just gained a new fan. As for Griner, her coach put it well, and people do need to be more considerate, and respectful. Griner has to be a damn strong person to not let that crap get to her, and to handle herself as well as she does. :thumb:

Okay...I was going to fill in the blanks on this thread's heading with:

...be the most dominant women's college basketball player ever?

I'm not going to bust out the bongo drums and sing "Kumbaya" but I don't need to make snarky comments about Griner's sexuality either. She's a bad ass on the court. End of story.

Silvertip - I can say I learned something new today. Thanks for the scoop on AIS.

Do you think maybe Baylor's Brittney Griner might...

be able to take your wimpy ass to the hoop and dunk over you, making you wet your pants like a little school-boy? Yeah, I do think that.

On offense....yes, I agree with you Hammer.

On defense....still Griner. I should have been more specific.
