I think it's hilarious how some of you are passing over Brown. He was just a Freshman QB last year (with NO burners at WR, mind you). It's not common for a FR to look great. He will only get better. šŸ˜Ž

I think he has talents and skills and some upside, however I think he has a looooooong ways to go. And the narrative that people keep saying he is a freshman is something I don’t agree with necessarily as last season was his 3rd year in the program.

Yep. 100% spot on. Love the kid, lots of heart, but he’s not going to be an effective QB at this level.

Maybe he will get better, but the staff looking for a million QBs before bringing in Johnson (and maybe one more) and allegedly talking to Kris about changing positions doesn't bode well for his future as the Griz QB.

Funny. Davidson came up with Jenkins from CO as an assistant and when Jenkins was canned he took over as HC in '63. Same result as Jenkins.
Yea, it was way more about the administration and the attitude toward football in those years than it was about Hugh's coaching. He had great success after his Griz days with Idaho State and the Denver broncos. You bad mouthing him just shows what a petty prick you are. Hugh Davidson was an amazing person, and a personal friend of mine. Far from the petty, washed up know it all, that thinks he's the puff daddy of a fan message board.
Butthurt much? Maybe your friend, but please point out any inaccuracy that I posted. I get it you're biased; were you there playing under that regime? A lame excuse, the administration did not cause an 8-20 record; he was over his head as a HC. Jack Swarthout turned it around in his first year, totally changing the program under the same administration which decided a football stadium did not deserve a campus footprint.

And you are so high and mighty with all your name-calling and slander. Facts can be very stubborn things; you should try some sometime, however inconvenient they are to your narrative.

Hugh, The professor was a helluva smart coach, and what kind of POS would denigrate him. He Struggled through the Athletic De-emphasis Program under Wally Schwanke, and the administration and i guess only an ass like Mr (know it all) would step on his own D..k,

What gets lost in all of this is that a resident troll, who shall remain nameless, made the bold prediction that with Cam having no more eligibility, and Brown looking very meh, the Griz would land a QB transfer this offseason. Not sure how he came up with that nugget of wisdom, but he was correct. Wild stuff. I predict the Griz will throw a forward pass in the home opener. You heard it here first.

What the administration did (moving to small college) should have helped a HC's W/L record, playing a very reduced quality schedule. Wally provided the full allotment of scholarships to Davidson allowed by the BSC at the time (60, if I recall), but he couldn't win and was embarrassed by MSU each year. 8-20 overall. The signs for his firing in the '66 MSU game in Dornblaser show I'm not the only critic. Swarthout 7-3 in his first season. Totally changed the team environment in one year. Davidson never landed another HC job.

Your argument could carry more weight if you could provide some facts instead of name-calling those that do.

In what Capacity sir??
Recruited by Davidson, took the full ride from UM in '64 over a partial from Sweeny at MSU. A mistake for football, the right decision otherwise and the only decision financially. Played both ways, LB and OG. You sir?

I would secretly love it if Kem and Griz#64 knew each other and were buddies on the team who fell out of touch with one another over the decades.

O K i was in the army in 64, But in 1957 played for the Griz as a freshman for Hal Sherbeck, then 3 years for Ray Jenkins. I think Darryl Dupuis and I were the only Flathead Indians to Captain the Griz and the Cats'. I beat him 10-6 and am now looking at the signed game ball. I took a grad assistant position and coached the frosh with Eddie Chinske, and the baseball team with milt schwenk for a couple of years before going on active duty.. I actually recruited Mike Tilleman while coaching the East West Shrine game'. I did return in the fall of 66 to complete my Thesis and coach the Freshman. As a side bar" I played handball with old Jiggs Dahlberg . I think he beat me. So sir: I apologize for being ugly. Actually Jim Sweeny was coaching the Kalispell Wrestling team when i wrestled for Jug beck Yogi

Have you ever considered who they played against? It wasn’t the 2000 BSC.

I watched all the Montana/Wyoming games of your era in Billings when I was a schoolkid. Never a good outcome. Was a big Terry Dillon fan. In '64 we had Schwenk for a frosh coach; Tom Hauck was a grad assistant and our LB coach. Dave Kragthorpe was a great assistant coach starting in '65. After moving off campus, I lived in Wally Swanke's walk-out basement up on the hill.

I watched everything Wayne Harrington did, an exceptional LB. Several good defensive players, but Davidson was just never able to recruit or develop a QB that could lift the offense to be consistent and competitive. Sweeny was a wild man, Butte all the way.

I can’t stop laughing at this. Ol’ plaid shirt thought he had him, then got dropped. Ol’ plaid’s buddy comes in to defend against Grey Vest and gets dropped by ā€˜Ol plaid himself! Ol’ plaid has a ā€œget up, Rockā€ moment gets dropped again as Ol’ White Shirt drops Grey Vest. Ol’ White Shirt broke a hip trying to save his bro. Best movie I’ve seen in years.

Griz#64 has a great left jab. So powerful he knocks himself down. Twice! Also good barefoot kicks from bottom position.

Kem is quick on his feet and the aggressor but can’t keep his feet. Walks right into several blows.

I love how long it takes for all of them to get up each time. Standing 8 counts.

And the look the buddy gives from the ground after getting pushed down while trying to help...there are no words
