Did the "better team" really win

And again 7 points were taken from us ;).
Really? What 7 points that were actually scored?

You really are going to try and argue that chances are we WOULDN'T score a td from the 2? Got it.
Not at all. Just arguing that that 7 points is completely hypothetical. It did not exist. Are you saying it was automatic? Did you watch the NAU game? Get it?

This whole conversation is hypothetical...

wtf are you even saying?

If you remotely think we wouldn't have scored you are high. Remember we also nearly put 600 yards on them. And that's just the td, doesn't even count the momentum that woulda came with it ;).

BUT YOU'RE RIGHT FACTS ARE FACTS AND FACT IS THEIR REFS HIGHLY FAVORED CCU IN THE PENALTIES AND MADE A REF ERROR WHICH IMPACTED THE GAME IN AN EXTREMELY HIGH FASHION.

I used the caps to indicate "Hypothetical" and "Factual"

Slick avoidance of the question regarding the NAU game, where in a similar situation we not only didn't score, NAU put up seven. It's college football; anything can happen. We did not have a TD in the bag. If it were so easy, I'm sure we'd have scored from the 17.

Getting 17 yards in 4 plays and 2 yards in 4 plays are two totally different things. This is a retarded statement.

You're right anything can happen. If you really think the chances are we wouldn't score than you are fooling yourself. The chances are > 95% that we would score a td from the 2. But it's ok, sick avoidance of the fact that this whole thread is hypothetical. HYPOTHETICALLY WE WOULD HAVE SCORED A TOUCHDOWN. Anything COULD happen you're right. But odds are better that we score a TD. I don't even know why I'm replying to you, your posts are so counter-productive.

Hypothetically if we'd scored there CCU would have just answered back, and not taken their foot off the gas.

I think the last drive of the day was all the proof you need that CC was the better team Saturday. They start the drive on the 35, with 5:01 remaining and Montana with 2 timeouts, and Montana just could not stop them (CC even used a timeout on the drive to help the Griz). here is what happened on that drive:

Coastal 1-10 at Coastal35 COASTAL CAROLINA drive start at 05:01.
Coastal 1-10 at Coastal35 TALIAFERRO, L. rush for 5 yards to the COASTAL40 (Zack Wagenmann;Matt Hermanson).
Coastal 2-5 at Coastal40 HENDERSON, D. rush for 13 yards to the UM47, 1ST DOWN COASTAL (Matt Hermanson;Bo Tully).
Coastal 1-10 at Um47 ROSS, Alex rush for 6 yards to the UM41 (Matt Hermanson;Alex Bienemann).
Coastal 2-4 at Um41 Timeout Coastal Carolina, clock 02:55.
Coastal 2-4 at Um41 HENDERSON, D. rush for no gain to the UM41 (Zack Wagenmann;Trevor Rehm).
Coastal 3-4 at Um41 ROSS, Alex rush for 7 yards to the UM34, 1ST DOWN COASTAL (Bo Tully;Matt Hermanson).
Coastal 1-10 at Um34 TALIAFERRO, L. rush for no gain to the UM34 (Jordan Tripp;Alex Bienemann).
Coastal 2-10 at Um34 ROSS, Alex rush for 9 yards to the UM25, fumble by ROSS, Alex recovered by COASTAL TALIAFERRO, L. at UM15, 1ST DOWN COASTAL.
Coastal 1-10 at Um15 TEAM rush for loss of 1 yard to the UM16.
Coastal 2-11 at Um16 End of game, clock 00:00.

That is the better team winning.

We have had trouble with those type of QBs that CCU has all year. We have never stopped them. Until the DC figures that out we will struggle with throwing, running QBs, which obviously did not happen. The coach announcer repeatedly pointed out how our D end was rushing wide, leaving the run open for the QB. Why not have a player spy on the QB in case of the run? They beat us, the non-play review just gave us a reason to say what if. Sorry if this was already stated.

Yes, absolutely, 100%. Every non griz fan that watched that game, and probably even most rational griz fans that watched it, saw that CC completely outplayed UM in every phase of the game. It wasn't really even that close, even though I gotta credit the griz for mounting yet another comeback and making it look closer than it actually was. When I said "foot off the gas", I didn't literally mean that once they built a 35 to 14 lead they said, "Let's give u a couple TD's and let them back in this" of course, but it looked like the CC players felt like, "This was easier than we thought..." and didn't play on fire like they did in the first half. That happens all the time. But at not point did it ever seem like they were going to actually give up the lead. Having said all that... if JJ wouldn't have had an off game, I think you guys probably would have taken them in a close one.

did you watch Montana's games this year? How many times did the Griz have the ball inside the 5 - 1st and goal and not score? Multiple so to say they took 7 points off the board is reaching but I get what you are going for. With this offensive play calling Montana fans could not count on anything this year, even first and goal inside the 5

The TD was a given score like going for it on four down was a given at getting a first down.

If a team "beats its self", then it is not a better team.

Good teams don't "beat themselves", they get the other team "to beat it" for them.

I disagree with you guys thinking either ccu is just incredible or um is just horrible. We still put 600 yards on them and our Wrs were open deep all game I'm sure jj would have done better in better weather. Refs were the determining factor for me. Someone mentioned the last drive and ill mention our first 2.

One further comment I have is also concerning the coaching. CC players were all wearing long sleeve shirts. Many of the Griz were bare armed. I guess a showing of Montana toughness.
Could that have caused a drain on their playing? Maybe our coaches should have COACHED a bit more.

I own a Nike Pro Combat long sleeve shirt, much like the one the CC players and some Griz players were wearing. Standing outside in that shirt at -4 to 0 degrees doesn't keep someone that much warmer than if I was wearing a Nike Pro Combat short sleeve that went to just my elbows. The sleeves or no sleeves argument is just silly. Look at the App. State game, which was warmer by 13 degrees, but was snowing sideways, had a wind chill of about -10 and was played without one ray of sunshine. 90 percent of the Griz' players didn't wear sleeves that day either and they were just fine. And BTW, go back and watch the game again, MANY Griz players WERE wearing long sleeves on Saturday. I'll name some for ya: Jordan Johnson, Brock Coyle, Jamaal Jones, Ellis Henderson, Matt Hermanson, Bo Tully, Nate Harris, Josh Dennard, Anthony Goodwin, Mitch Saylor and those are just from memory.

Another interesting fact: Taliaferro, CC's BEST player, refused his coaches request and did not wear sleeves.

Not all CC players were wearing long sleeve shirts.

How many times did you see UM complete 2 nice passes in a row, after gaining about 60 yards in 7 plays, with 2 nice completions in a row, and not score in 4 plays from 2 yards out. Thought so. Zero times.
