Did the "better team" really win

:x

Which Griz players claimed they weren't "prepared". Does every football game end that way. One team (the winning team) is prepared and the other (the losing team) is unprepared?

By that rationale, you're saying legendary coaches like Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh and Bill Parcels sometimes didn't prepare their team for games, because they ALL lost games. What did they do then? Play super soaker games at practice those weeks?
I don't think there were super soakers then.

Haha, that was an inside joke. The Griz once concluded a practice with a super soaker fight, and it didn't seem to hurt them any. They went to the semifinals that year.

Yes, the best team won. Why all the angst and hand wringing. We played the same as we did all year offensively and defensively. "The griz are who they thought they would be" Difference is that this is big boy football. This is the playoffs. This is not the watered down big sky conference. Every team is good.

Congratulations, finally someone calls it right.

Many on here were overestimating CC before this game. Now some aren't giving them the credit they deserve. They are the 2nd best football team we played this year in my opinion. There are a lot of teams left in the playoffs they would have a very good chance of beating. Unfortunately they drew NDSU instead.

Yes the better team won. CCU 42 - GRIZ 35. Won't win many games in the playoffs when the D gives up 42 to anybody.

Coach Moglia had his team prepared to play a second round playoff game.

Coach Delaney, well, not so much. Better execution comes from better preparation.

Now that the seasons over and the playbooks been fully exposed, what was the big deal with closing the stadium practices :?:

The GRIZ looked like some good college players who were being coached by some not so good high school coaches.

You guys keep saying they were a "better team."

What basis do you have for that argument. The refs determined 7 points. (Yes yes yes we get it that we "should have scored from the 17" bla bla bla) But the refs essentially took 7 off the board.

Ok we lost by 7.

The refs also penalized us much more than the opponent for things that they did the same on. We didn't get a PI call to save our life throughout the game and holding was just a joke. There were skeptical block in the back calls and celebrating(our celebration was less than their first td's celebration).

So what, apparently we were commiting more penalties than them(I personally don't believe)

But FACT IS we lost by 7. The refs took 7 off the board. I understand all of you are saying, "Our defense played like shit." Well so did theirs. We almost put 600 yards on them. If JJ could execute better we EASILY would have beat them. He didn't execute and our defense played poorly. BUT WE STILL ONLY LOST BY 7.

How can ANYONE claim that they're a better team when all we saw was 1 game which was decided by 7 and the refs CLEARLY took off 7, and I believe had more influence throughout the entire game than that.

The "CCU took its foot off the gas" statement rings true. I felt CCU started milking the clock too early. Waiting for time to run down before the snap cooled the team off. It changed their attack mentality. That made the Griz more desperate, to win in the final minutes. CCU thought it had the game won too early & almost blew it.

I guess they were unaware of the CalPoly game.

If they had kept up full play until later in the 4th, the game would have been further out of reach for the Griz. The bad ref call would have been inconsequential. Upshot? The better team did, indeed, win, but almost blew it.

I think we saw two slightly better than average teams. Don't think the NDSU game will be good for them, and would not have been good for us either.

Do you know what I like about Eastern Washington's receivers. They actually go for the ball and act like it is their right to have it rather than look for the refs to throw a flag. They don't leave anything to chance. There may have been some pass interference, but make the play and let the flag fall or not.

I mean you can complain that we were bad and our receivers are bad w/e. Still doesn't answer the question of whether they were better. I personally didn't see anything from their team that impressed me. I predict a 30+ point win for NDSU

I saw a lot that impressed me. They were professional and disciplined. They did not get penalties for throwing the ball at the opposing team or excessive celebration. They did not get rattled. They had a plan in place and it worked for them. NDSU may win big. If that is the case, imagine how they would have embarrassed us?

1. Their TD Celebrations were more than what we got flagged for. Kind of goes back to the part about how we got penalized for things they did as well. Check their 1st and I believe the 4th(the one in the North Endzone where Numbers 11 just goes jumping across the field taunting)

2. I dunno how you call them barely keeping their big lead not "getting rattled"

Again I don't think they were better. 7 points. After ALL the shit you and others are saying about our team they only beat us by 7... If you think our team is that bad how bad are they then?

And again 7 points were taken from us ;).

Really? What 7 points that were actually scored?

You really are going to try and argue that chances are we WOULDN'T score a td from the 2? Got it.
Not at all. Just arguing that that 7 points is completely hypothetical. It did not exist. Are you saying it was automatic? Did you watch the NAU game? Get it?
