Did FCS playoffs make money the last two years?

Some FCS fans seem to think since the move to Texas, expanded numbers, and NDSU making championship runs that the FCS playoffs have made money?

Is that true? I know ODAY was really worried about home much money the CS was losing in the playoffs every year.

The NCAA runs something like 80 championship playoffs, DI Mens basketball is the only one that makes any significant amount of money for them, but mens basketball makes the NCAA about 600 million per year and is able to fund the shortfalls in the other sports. The other sports (besides basket ball) make about 40 million per year from an ESPN contract that includes over 40 NCAA championships that include FCS playoffs. That additional revenue that is generated from from the championship events (ticket sales ect...) is a drop in the bucket when compared to these two media contracts.

Bowl games are not playoffs but must make money for NCAA...
Wrong, the NCAA has nothing to do with bowl games.

They dont?

Just curious, when did the DI NCAA Bowl Licensing Task Force disappear?

Really? What do they charge for that "certification"? How does it compare to the other divisions and sports "Championships"? Who controls the money for each of the Bowls? Why isn't the NCAA logo used during the Bowl Games?

Are you really that stupid or are just another grizidiot.

Wrong, the NCAA has nothing to do with bowl games.

The dictatorship the NCAA is you can bet your ass they have SOMETHING to do w/ bowl games. If I'm wrong (won't be the 1st time) I find it hard to believe. Very hard.

Are you even aware that the NCAA does NOT name a champion for FBS football, the NCAA would love to have their fingers in the pie, but they don't. each bowl is managed independently. I cant believe that so many of you griztards claim to be college football fans and still don't understand the whole Bowl System.

Yeah, fuckstick, I'm aware of that. But if you believe the NCAA makes NOTHING from these bowl games you are dumber than I thought.

Think the "license" is free?

The problem, as Kirwan notes, is that "the bowls are half in and half out" of the reach of the NCAA. In other words, it has little practical say over the policies of game organizers. Even though the bowls need a license from the NCAA to operate, it's generally kept its questions to whether the bowls are financially solvent, not how they spend their money.

The NCAA wouldn’t want a playoff system because of all the money it makes during the BCS with its bowl sponsors. But every other football league has a playoff system, so how can the NCAA make money and have a playoff?

Sponsors, huh...sponsors usually PAY.

You may be confusing the bowel games with the BCS. The NCAA has nothing to do with the BCS

Go away, litter-box licker. I wish you would show your face around Missoula, instead of hiding behind that keyboard trying to impress us with your infinite knowledge.

So the NCAA make a few thousand dollars for "licensing", maybe even $10,000, this is an organization that counts revenue in the 100's of millions, like about 800 million per year.

You make as much sense as O'Dipsh!t did in his famous email he sent out
