Did anyone catch that, Ncaa?

The closest airport to fly into is CHO (Charlottesville).
Major airlines do not fly into Harrisonburg.

Thanks. That was all I wanted to understand. Never been over there.

Correct. You guys chartered with Sun Country. We've chartered with them several times in the past. Every one of those times we've flown out of Shenandoah (SHD) which is about 20 minutes from campus. My only guess as to why you'd go to Charlottesville (45 mins away) is that SHD is a really small airport and might not be open late enough for a post-game flight. It only gets like 4 commercial flights a day.

Please tell me you're not a dumbass as well.

You’re gonna shit when you find out that when we play bozeman they make us drive 3 hours on a bus and stay over 30 miles away.
It's Hauck's choice to stay in Livingston. He refuses to stay in Bozeman.

I personally have never flown into Shenandoah. It’s hard to make connections from the northwest. I go out there almost every year in September. I can usually be found having a beer at one of those fine breweries in Harrisonburg. i’m usually wearing Griz gear, so come and say hello if you see me.

Just to be clear, Shenandoah airport is about 25 minutes from campus. Charlottesville airport is about 50 minutes. While those 25 minutes is an inconvenience, personally I would look for a different excuse for what happened tonight. There's a whole other thread about the officiating. Perhaps air some grievances there?

Again. Simply stated we lost. Period. The point of thread was simply to understand the travel. I doubt OP even thinks it only happens to the Griz. Seemed obvious that OP was over the game. Only one team ever wins. Simply a question to understand something he didn’t know.
You acted casual all week but your true colors eventually showed through. People show as much of their true identity winning as they do losing. Now if someone is making excuses go ahead and address those posts. This posting wasn’t one of them.

I remember, at least, one Griz playoff opponent had to land in Helena and bus over to Missoula, as the Missoula airport was too foggy or icy and windy or something that shut down the airport. Also NDSU had to fly into Helena because of forest fires near Missoula in 2003 and then their bus broke down, so we've benefitted in the same way previously. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story?id=1610476&src=desktop

Actually no. Pretty funny that you don't realize between choice and forced. Nice narrative though. Bobby has usually chosen to stay in Livingston. Next.

Wanna talk about the Butte meetings, now?

Dup, I've always thought you've been a great poster but if you want to start barking at me, puking on my thread, you better be smarter than that.
Always wondered about that. It’s a nice schtick. I HATE Bozeman and will never stay there! Ok. Fair enough. Why drive all the way to
Livingston? You could stay in Belgrade. No I get it, WAY too close to Bozeman. Three forks? Plenty of rooms if you plan ahead. Hell, stay in butte!

Other than trying to be petty, I never understood driving PAST Bozeman 45 minutes to stay in Livingston.

Though credit where credit is due. Gris not staying in Bozeman makes me feel pretty terrible as a person, and Hauck is certainly sticking it to me.

I think it had more to do with Hauck trying instill a rivalry vibe in his first couple of teams as hc. But since it seems to trigger the bobcat faithful, like yourself, every other year he keeps doing it to get under your skin and now it has become sort of a team tradition that the players love. You guys are the only ones who really even talk about it. It’s a pretty simple team building device kind of like when he pulls the buses over on pipestone pass for a moment of reflection near bear mountain on the continental divide on the way to the game. I think Vigen is a good coach but he doesn’t really get the rivalry yet. He reminds me more of a pseudo nfl type coach who is really more into the scheme and game plan rather then into emotion. The complete opposite of Hauck and choate. When the game is in Missoula Hauck has the upper classmen throw the freshman out of the new champion’s center locker room during game week because they haven’t earned the right yet to dress out for the brawl. Traditions build teams.

Great memory, Zirg. I recall that as well. I only posted this thread as the pregame specifically mentioned that the NCAA wouldn't allow them to land in Harrisonburg AND the NCAA made the team stay out of town.
That's what I don't understand. Nothing to do with weather and why the heck is the NCAA involved on where any team can land and/or stay. Not just Griz related and why I find it messed up, if true.

Not triggered at all. Was genuinely curious. Always found it odd to drive PAST Bozeman 45 minutes is all. Throw in the weather factor and how many times I’ve seen accidents and traffic at a standstill and it has always seemed risky to me. But like I said, I understand the schtick.

It’s totally common. Heck, Pac12 teams have to fly into Eugene when they play OSU in Corvallis.

Is this a cost deal, then? Cheaper to fly into a larger airport. Just trying to understand.

Corvallis doesn’t have an airport large enough to accommodate large planes. Some teams even fly into Portland and bus two hours to Corvallis.

It was a Griz fan who brought it up in this thread.

Also, great Griz players such as Dante Olson never beat the Bobcats. Did he throw himself out of the Champions Center? For a program that says it doesn’t really care much about Griz-Cat, it sure seems like the Griz care a lot with all of these goofy traditions.

Oh, no worries, nwf. If history is any guide, the cats will very soon be copying every single one of those “goofy” traditions.

Recognize not only is Livingston in a different county than Bozeman, it's also next door to Big Timber. And it's but 25 minutes from Bozeman. A good choice.

If the city is big enough with enough hotels to accommodate all the fans plus opposing team’s players and coaches and anything else that might be going on that particular weekend then they would likely stay in the opposing teams’ town, like Bozo is doing right now at Sam Houston. In Missoula for example, the new Griz Hockey team had 2 home games scheduled versus Idaho the night before the Brawl and another the night of the Brawl. Idaho ended up cancelling because they couldn’t find any rooms.
